Don't waste your money on Sundown Time Release Niacin capsules.

A few months ago it was suggested to my husband to add Niacin to his over the counter products. As it is a dietary supplement he could take it as well as his 21 regular pills a day. He was to start with 1 a day, and then after a week, take 2. The reason he was told to gradually get it into his system was that Niacin can cause flushing. That is an understatement. He never got to the second week, because the flushing happened almost immediately. Does anyone want a bottle with 55 capsules in it? He will stick to the Crestor that is prescribed for him, and we know that it works for him.

I was looking for a timed release real Niacin (*nicotinic acid) *since all the flush free types are bogus and do NOTHING for your triglycerides or chloresterol. I was using GNC, but they stopped making them, so I tried these. Well I did not have the dusty pill problme as the other reviewers, but I did notice that the these are not USP certified, but do say they are LAB certified. Well I don;t knwo what lab they are using , but I find the absorption of these pills is extremely inconsistent. I will get a delayed flush that can coem in as lttle as 2 hours or as long as 6-7 hours, telling me they are not dissovinga nd being absorbed ina unified and consitent manner. I have tried contacting the company with no response. I woudl avoid these and go with SLO-NIACIN whihc coems for a much more reputable company.

Over-the-counter slow release Niacin seems to be pretty pricey no matter where I look for it, so I'm always trying to find the best deal and Niacin that actually seems to work without too many side effects. That's how I came across the 500mg slow release niacin caplets from Sundown Naturals. What I've found is that they are cheaper than other products I've used, but they do have their issues. I take 2000mg of Niacin a day on my doctor's orders, so I have to take 4 of the pills from Sundown. Not a huge issue, but the pills are larger than I had with another product I was taking. That said, there are more pills in this bottle than the other brand I was taking, so even though the pills were bigger, the cost was less and I was getting more. My bigger problem with these pills is that they seem to be dusty. When you handle them, you get covered in what seems to be ground up pill dust. That's okay on my hands, but even when I go to swallow, I get that dust feeling in my mouth, which more times than not makes me feel like coughing when I'm trying take the pills. When I go through the two bottles of the Sundown Niacin that I have, I will probably switch back to the Slo-Niacin that I was taking. The pills were smaller and they didn't have the dust issue, even though they are more expensive. If you need to take Niacin, it might be worth trying out these pills from Sundown, but I have trouble recommending them, even though they are well priced.
