I tried No Bite...and I'm still biting

2

I am a life-long nail biter. I know it's an awful habit, but after more than 30 years, I just can't seem to kick it. One of the tools I have tried in my various attempts to stop biting my nails is Orly No Bite. And maybe it's just me, maybe I'm just incorrigible, but this product did not work for me at all. No Bite is easy to apply; it comes in a little bottle just like nail polish, and you just brush it on and wait a few minutes for it to dry. It dried quickly and invisibly; you couldn't tell from looking that I had it on my nails. It was inexpensive and convenient. Those are all the good things about it. The bad thing is that it didn't deter me from biting my nails. No Bite does have a mildly bad bitter taste. However, it wasn't all that terrible. And I found that if I just sort of pulled my tongue back into my mouth while biting, I could still bite and not taste the bitterness at all. (This was really my own fault; I shouldn't have tried to find a way not to taste the product. However, I did find a way, and it was way too easy.) Also, the bitter taste wore off fairly quickly. I think the failure of No Bite comes both from the fact that I am an incurable nail biter and the fact that it's just not that great of a product.

tastes awful

So my "one liner" says tastes awful, which it totally does! But, isn't this the point???? LOL! I gave it only 3 starts because of the fact you have to apply it constantly throughout the day. My understanding of this is that since you are washing your hands and just through normal daytime events, the product eventually wears off. It is NOT like a polish and does not leave a shine. It is mainly there to taste awful so that if you bite your nails, it will discourage you from doing so over a period of time because it tastes so bad. However, if you are a hardcore nail bitter, nothing, not even something that tastes bad will stop you. I would bite my nails with this on regardless of the taste. It also is a very thin liquid. If you are not careful, and knock the bottle over, it spills all over the place. The brush is also rather small and it can be hard to get it on the nail, but this is not such a bad thing because any on your finger will leave the bad taste in your mouth.
