I just got my new Janome 8002D Serger about a week ago, and I'm loving it! The price was affordable, and since I just needed a simple basic serger, I went with this one. I'm very familiar with the Janome brand having used my old one for 14 years. This serger was very similar to my old one (except it works LOTS better :)), and I was able to use it right out of the box. I had to adjust the tension a little bit and figure out how this specific machine worked best with different fabric thicknesses, but it was super simple to do, and now I know just how to set it for the basic kinds of serging I do most. I love the fact that I can go from a regular serged edge to a rolled hem without having to change plates. That's so fun, and the rolled hem works great! Just take one needle out, switch the lever and knob over to rolled hem, and you're ready to roll! :) So far, I'm very pleased with this serger, and I'm looking forward to using it for many years to come!
