I could not stick with this diet.

Suzanne Somers is wonderful and I have always liked her. I really liked a lot of the information she gave me in this book. I picked it up at a used book store. She had a lot of great recipes, but her methods are just not sustainable. I was not able to stick to this long term. There is so much information to remember and too much to process. The book is pretty much straight information too, no motivation or support available to help me through the rough times. There was not really even advice to help me when I had cravings or I wanted to cheat. I was also always hungry on this diet. I needed a diet that would fill me up, keep me full, but help me grasp the "how to" of eating well without starving myself. Effectiveness I did not lose any weight on this diet because I could get myself motivated enough to stick to it. I have tried this diet on several occasions between other diets and I have never had any luck. Side Effects I was hungry ALL THE TIME on this diet!

It's all about the calories

This was not a practical diet for me. I needed more than just counting calories. She does have some great points, but not enough to make lasting results, In order to have lasting change you need to try something that will be sustainable long term and make lifestyle changes. Effectiveness Without a change in my thought patterns and changing the way I thought there were no lasting results. I do like some of her recipes. She is a great motivational person and has lots of positive energy. I remember her talking about having several sizes of clothes. I need to find something that allows me to have only one size of clothes and will keep me in that size. I have since learned that it is more about what you eat and eating foods that allow your body to heal itself. Ease of Use Follow the program and stay on the program and you will have no problems. However it does not translate well to a life style change and doing long term.

Bought the book. Read the book. Tried to use the suggestions in the book. There just isn't any motivation doing weight loss by yourself. Have used so many different plans, pills, books, programs, etc and the best way to lose is with a face-to-face buddy system or willing family member is best. I like the author and there are some good suggestions in the book but I'm not self-motivated to do weight loss alone just by reading how to do it. Effectiveness Only effective if you have the self-motivation to carry it through by yourself. Losing weight is a lonely project but how effective is something you don't or can't stick with? I suppose the book CAN be effective if you have the will in a busy world to keep it with you as a reference 24/7. Side Effects My only side effect is doing this reading by myself. No one else was interested enough to even read the book when offered to them. Ease of Use Reading is easy. Incorporating or remembering the suggestions is another challenge!
