Has that great old time look!

4

I bought this for a 1950's themed party that we were having for my grandparents anniversary. I thought that this would be great to have to play the music and just to have that look and feel of older times without having to spend an arm and a leg to go and buy a jukebox. When we set it up at the party we immediately put a record on the top and started to play it. I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed with the sound that came out of it, especially once we used a mic to amplify it and make it loud enough so that people could dance to it. The look of this is so fun and makes you feel like you are in an older time and that was very enjoyable for everyone, I had many people ask me where I got it and had planned on buying one of their own. I now use this in my home and it works very well and serves its purpose. It is not spectacular but for the price you pay for it, it works well and it does get the job done.

Good for what I wanted it for

It is a good system but could be improved upon. I purchased this system because I had many cassette tapes that I wanted to transfer to cd's, to then place on my computer. It is a good system because if you have many records or cassettes that you would like to preserve this system helps by letting you transfer your music to different sources and thereby preserving the originals. I had looked around, but this was the only system the would help me to accomplish my goal. I was able to transfer all of the cassettes to cd's very easily. It even left a space between the songs so that they did not run together. The sound is ok. The speakers are not the best. I am not sure if, along with the look of the piece, they were trying to match the sound as well. There could be major improvement in the sound quality. Also, the level of sound coming from the speakers could be improved as well. It is not quite as loud as some systems. It is definitely not a system for a young person who likes their music loud. The piece is nice to look at. It gives off that old fashion look and it is constructed well. This is really a back up system to the one I currently have.

We bought this as a fun thing

I really was wanting a all-in-one portable stereo unit to use at a"40's party that we were had planned. We looked at a lot of units and just as we were ready to leave, we found this one and immediately loved the old fashioned design. The unit was available in a oak and a paprika finish that was just the right touch to make it look authentic. The utis is compact, has built in speakers and the sound was clear and good enough that it sounded good even outside. You can listen to or copy CD's . Actually there are probably better sound systems and ones that are easier to operate but what I paid for was the old fashion look of a gone by time and for our party, it was a big hit and we felt we got our money worth in just that one event however it turned out to be even better. . My mom and dad loved the unit. They said it reminded them of their grandparents so we ended up giving it to them. Overall it was a good purchase.

Awful Sound

After seeing a display, I just had to have the Crosley Troubadour Audio Shelf System when it first came out. I thought it would be great to be able play some of my old records again. As well as I loved the look of the system and thought it would look great in my house. I found the system on sale and purchased it right away. After I got it home and set up, I immediately had to try it out. I was very disappointed in the system. The radio was easy enough to use but the sound was awful. It seemed to have a very high treble sound and not enough bass. I did choose to keep the system but I don't use it anymore. It is now used just for looks. I would not recommend the Crosley Troubadour Audio Shelf System to anyone looking for a good sounding system as you will most definitely be disappointed. I found this to be a complete waste of money. I myself, would not purchase another system of this type.

Decent sound with functional flexibility and visual appeal

EDIT 10/25/12 I had to return two of these units. The turntable motor dies very quickly (less than 30 days). I do not recommend this item. Old review: This product works for my current needs. I have a small apartment, and the fact that this system has a turntable, cd player, radio, tape deck and auxiliary input all in one compact unit is very helpful with my limited amount of space. I got it because I wanted a turntable but I didn't really have enough space to add a standalone turntable next to my old stereo. Pros: Compact design. Sound is decent and works well for a small area. Visual/aesthetic design is very nice. Good price for what you get. Cons: Seems to be somewhat low quality (I had to return the first unit I got because the turntable was defective). I think as long as you are careful with this (for example, when moving it), it will be fine, but it seems a bit fragile. However, for the price, I was not expecting much more. You cannot attach external speakers. In the future (when I have a bigger place), I will probably replace this with a nicer turntable that I can attach better speakers to. Summary: if you want decent sound quality with the flexibility to play multiple formats, a compact, visually-appealing design, and the functionality to fill a small- to medium-sized room with music, this is a good fit.
