I have used Behr interior paints for years. So when we needed to stain & waterproof our newly built front deck two years ago, we purchased Behr Premium Weatherproofing Wood Stain from our local Home Depot. My brother has stained many decks & says most stains last about 2 years. I was pleased to see that Behr Premium Weatherproofing Wood Stain has a 6 year satisfaction guarantee. The stain went on smoothly and covered with one coat using a roller. We brush covered in between the boards. It dried quickly & we were able to walk on the deck the next day. The deck was covered in ice over the winter, so we put salt or ice melt down to help melt the ice. The salt totally ruined the stain job on the floor boards. We also had hail that caused the tops & sides of the railings to need stained again. More than half the stain is now gone and the deck needs re-stained. Without this damage, I don't know how well the Behr Premium Weatherproofing Wood Stain would have held up. It held up well for 1 ½ years. I have ½ gallon left from two years ago, so plan on using it again this spring.

In late 2009 I was having an issue with Behr deck stain I had applied.  Less than a year after applying the product it was starting to peel in spots.  I raised the issue to Behr and their customer service was quick to address the issue.  They explained the process of stripping and reapplying the paint and helped out immensely with the materials to redo it. Behr lived up to their reputation and helped put me on the right path for redoing my project.

Behr's Premium Weatherproofing Wood Stain for decks and fences is my newest great find. I applied two coats, one after the other, on my front steps. Within in 4 hours they had cured enough to have light use to the front of our house. Over night they had dried completly and the color came through brilliantly. Could not ask for more from a wood stain. It was very easy for me to apply, all I did was clean the stairs throroughly with Behr's cleaning agent that they suggest on the can. Obviously im sure you could use something else but they were side by side in the ailse when i bought them so it just made sense to me. After cleaning it says this product can be applied to a damp/dry surface so i applied it damp as i didnt want to wait all day to start working on it. When applied damp the color does not show through immediatly it just appeared that the wood was wet. By the second coat i could see a little color but it didnt appear to be what i was hoping for but then after several hour dry time (approx 4 i think before we used them) i could see the color showing through and then by the morning everything looked great.
