Sometimes we tend to under-estimate the simple things in life ... for instance, Trader Joe's Organic Jasmine Rice. I was so excited about buying jasmine rice that I wasted little time tearing the package open when I got home and staring at it eagerly. I was more than a little disappointed to see nothing but three pouches of white rice. "Big deal!" I thought with disgust but with the first mouthful, I realized that it was indeed a VERY big deal.

read full review »Trader Joe's Organic Jasmine Rice is offered in the frozen isle and includes 3 packs of rice which serves 2-3 people each. Just four minutes in the microwave, and you have perfect rice. Trade Joes also offer brown rice in the same type of packaging, which is also a great option.
We like to serve a lot veggie stir frys and this rice make it so quick.
As an option, we cook the Trader Joe's frozen teriyaki chicken, grill up some zucchini and asparagus, toasted almonds, add to rice and you have a full healthy meal in 10 to 15 minutes.
I have been using this rice for awhile now. When you have a kid and a busy schedule, zapping rice in the microwave for three minutes is an easy way to put on a good hot meal. I'm not saying that making rice from scratch is a big deal -- but it probably takes half an hour start to finish, you have to make sure it doesn't burn, and you have to make sure it absorbs the right amount of water. Unless you have a rice cooker -- it can be a little bit of a time suck. The jasmine rice is light, perfectly moist, and a great add on to the Trader Joe's orange chicken or even the chicken chile verde. ...
