The film opens with the following narration:

WOW!! This movie scared the pants off of me!  I love a scary movie, but find most of them are pretty predictable and aren't really scary.  Usually when a movie is supposed to be sary, it's more gory than anything and I don't enjoy it.  Rarely is a true "terror" movie made; one that has you on the edge of your seat, terrified at what you are watching.  But The Strangers is unique because it really has the viewer afraid for the characters in the movie, and it's done in a way where there's hardly any actual violence shown.

This movie advertises that it is inspired by true events. After wasting 1 hr and 20 min of my time watching I was uncertain of what was the true event. I went online to research thinking maybe I just wasn't getting the point to the movie. This is when I discovered that the true event happened to the director in 1969 when he was a boy. Some people knocked on his door and asked if a certain person lived there. It turned out if you weren't home in the neighborhood that night you got robbed. There were no killings or torture. His inspiration for the horror part is Helter Skelter. The films...

Not as much a horror movie as a thriller that scares you into never wanting to stay at a vacation home, look out the window or answer the door. The Strangers kept me on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Slight amount of gore in there but mostly heart stopping scenes that make you jump. The creepy factor in the masks that the stalkers wear will give you nightmares. Made even more disturbing the fact that this is based on actual events. All in all one of the best movies I have seen in a long time

I have seen worse movies.  I must have, I just can't think of any.  This movie starts off slow, and wanders off somewhere to die.  The characters are not interesting, and you really don't care if any of them die.  The male is a whimpering puppy, and the female is not really worth saving.  I have forgotten their names in the week since I've seen this pig of a movie.  This is the first movie that I have walked out midway through.  I wish I knew where to get a refund.

This Movie hooks you by being mysterious.But trust me the only thing about The Strangers is the will power to sit and wait for it to get better which it didn't. This is quite possibly the worst suspense film i've seen and I've seen alot.

So the reality is that violent crimes are committed over the us and sometimes never solved WOW!!!! did they have to make a movie to get that point across.

I beg of you don't even waste a free rental to see this. You will regret it.

This was supposed to be based on a true story.  I found out that it was based simply on the fact that someone showed up at a house looking for someone that didn't live there, that's it.  The Strangers was horribly predictable and completely boring. 

Why not just have someone hide behind a door and jump out and say boo. that would be scarier than this movie and wheres the plot? hello boring! I fell asleep and had to fast foward most parts it was so boring
