Swarovski is really delivering this thrilling product and it superior to any of other brands in my private view. My pair of the 1042 shows me the sharpest image quality, I could see more details of the birds. Another point that makes me rate this pair high is the brightness. I feel as if the sky as well as the birds had been just washed and the world becomes a new, clean one. At dawn or near dark, it still gives me a better vision than any other binoculars that I had ever owned.

After my first pair of Swarovski 10x42 binoculars got broken. (My Fault) I had to send them in to Swarovski for repair. After all they were 25 years old. I was frantic to get them back before May 4 the date of the Audubon Spring Bird Census. I guess I should have broken them earlier because there was no way they could get back in time, so a week before the big day I bit the bullet and bought a new pair. Over the years Swarovski has improved on something I didn't think could be any better. The Swarovski Optik EL Swarovision 10 x 42 Binoculars are time and again better than the old version and they were fabulous. The old 10 x 42's weighed in at 32 ounces and you noticed the weight after several hours of birdwatching. The news 10 x 42 binoculars are 4 ounces less at 28 ounces. To make holding them easier Swarovski has sculpted the outside with thumb indentations. That makes them fit even a small hand like mine. They are lighter and fit your hand perfectly. I can hold them still with one hand. They are easy to use with or without glasses. If you wear glasses you can adjust the eyecups with 3 different settings. They focus for 4.9 feet to infinity in only 2 turns of the focus wheel. So you can focus on a bird that is just outside the car window. There are great binoculars to see birds through is normal daylight the colors are true and the detail is incredible but where these stand out from other binoculars is in the shade. Look at a shaded bird with your naked eye then bring the binoculars up to your eye and look again. They bring all the available light to focus and where before you could see at dark shadow with the binoculars you can actually make out color and detail. I am not going to list the names of all the special lens coatings and the gases they are filled with. I don't know which does what to make them the best binoculars on the market. They are waterproof, Fogproof and submersible. No I have not put them under water. The outside has a rubber armor coating that feels comfortable to your hand. Included in the box are lens caps to protect the objective lens and rain guards to keep them dry when hanging around your neck. A comfortable neck strap and a semi-hard case to store them in that is roomy enough to store a lens cloth (included) and a lens brush and a thin bird guide.
