Many people who buy game consoles like the PS3 often use the blu-ray player installed in the console, use the standard controller for managing and navigating their blu-ray collection. Personally though I'd rather have this bad boy on hand when flipping through blu-ray menus. The controller can be really fiddly at times, and sometimes when you need to quickly punch in a command you'll find it in sleep more. Or you might accidentally nudge one of the shoulder buttons around the top and mess up your place. The remote fixes that by putting every command needed for the blu-ray features all on one remote, so you don't even have to fiddle around through the menus to get to where you need!

Forget all the third party ps3 remotes that include an ir dongle, the official sony ps3 remote is here to deliver you from the imitations! This official remote requires no ir dongle, operates at 100% bluetooth signal and has functional control over almost every aspect of the bd-reader as well as standard ps3 controls. I currently use my remote almost everyday to control my ps3's media functionality and it has been a top performer. Button presses are aesthetically pleasing, remote response is quick and accurate and wireless response has been incredible - just love pointing the remote anywhere and being able to operate my ps3. For the price, it is an unmatched value. The only downside to this remote is that because it operates via bluetooth, it is not compatible with many ir universal remotes. This problem can be fixed with a bluetooth to ir extender you can purchase.

When I bought the PS3 I started to watch regular and Blue ray DVDs in the console. Then by using the regular PS3 Game Controller I was having problem hitting the wrong buttons and fast forwarding the movie. Therefore, I went online and found the PS3 Disc Remote from Sony and bought it off of Amazon. Once I got the remote there was no problem setting it up and starting to use it. All it needs is two double A's batteries and you are good to go. Now there are remotes with built in batteries, however, I have had my remote with the same batteries for over a year now and I still haven't changed them out yet. I can start and stop my movies with ease and eject the movie with a one touch button. Also, I don't accidentally hit the wrong button any more when I am setting the controller down. So there is no more headaches there and no more frustrations there too. I really have had no problems with and I would differently recommend this controller to other PS3 Users.

I really love this remote control! It is very sleek and easy to use, and it is very inexpensive. The fact that it is blue tooth means that you don't have to point it directly at the playstation in order for it to understand what you're asking it to do, which can be nice if you have your playstation positioned in a place that would make that difficult or inconvenient. The battery life on this is very good. I don't have to replace the batteries more than a few times a year, which is very nice. I have had remotes in the past with fancy back lit buttons that just suck the life out of the batteries. The only complaints that I have with this remote would be the buttons themselves. Several of them are a little small, and you can't really tell what they do unless you are looking at the remote itself before you press it. Though, despite this, I can not recommend this remote enough. It is so easy to set up because of the blue-tooth technology, and you don't have to do any programming. 4 stars.

The Sony Playstation 3 remote really is a must-have for anyone that watches blu-ray movies on it. The system itself only comes with a Dualshock controller, which is quite awkward to use for anything other than playing games on the system. The remote is a good remote - it works well. However. The buttons are a little overwhelming - there are so very many of them. The buttons are soooooooo small! SO small! It is very hard to see which button does what. Also, the remote is black, and the buttons are black. There is no way to see the remote if the lights are off while you are watching a blu-ray movie. It would be so nice to have an option to light up the buttons, even for just a few seconds to be able to find a pause button, or rewind, or whatever. Overall, it's a fine remote, and like I said earlier - you need it if you are going to watch blu-ray movies on the system. But, it would only take a few minor changes to make this remote top notch - which is what you always expect from Sony products in the first place!

When I first got my PS3 about 2 years ago, I thought I can live without a PS3 remote to watch Blu-ray movies.  It works, but you need a bit of patience's and practice in order to get familiar where the fast forward, main menu, and the stop and pause buttons.  The battery life on this thing is amazing!  It lasted me almost 2 years and because I seldom use this remote due to I rarely watch Blu-Ray with my PS3.  The remote itself is quite well built!  It's sturdy and a bit difficult to use some of the functions like "viewing angle" or "subtitle".  You really need to look a bit harder in order to find those "fine" print / label on top of the remote.  I really like the "Eject" button, really come in handy when the movie is done and just eject it when you get to your console.  The bluetooth range is quite good I am about at least about 15 feets away from it and it's good to use it to cut off your kids movie when the time is up without letting them see stop their movie!   One thing I wish though, since the new PS3 slim has a POWER button, I mean it's a button unlike the 1st gen PS3 (touch pad).  Hopefully, they will implements  a power button onto the remote in the future!

This is a Sony remote made to be used with the Playstation 3. If you're a little overwhelmed by using a gaming controller to navigate the non-game functions when using your television then this controller-remote will help. It is even designed to look more like a traditional remote control you would use for your television and you can use it to control the DVD/Blu-ray player. If you ever have guests over to babysit or house-sit then this makes controlling the device much less intimidating. I have no doubt if our 4 year old were allowed to touch it she'd figure it out in no time! If you are self-consious about image of using the Playstation 3 -- a game console -- as a primary DVD/ Blu-ray player then having a game controller sitting on the coffee table is pretty conspicuous, however this remote control looks normal and the slim black box alone in your TV cabinet will not give away your cover. You can get away with being a geek without being found out.
