To the Point

I'm not great at reviewing sophisticated items such as televisions but I can tell you a bit about the Panasonic TH-50PX77U 50 inch HDTV Plasma Television and what I think of it since my daughter's roommate put his in the living room. We watched it a number of times including a Patriot's game.

A Closer View

Let's start with the easy things - the measurements. It weighs about 88 pounds and is almost 30 inches high by 52 inches across by 4 inches deep. The screen size is 50 inches. It comes with a remote control and though it can be mounted on the wall it sits on a table (see picture)....

Panasonic TH-50PX77U - 50 in. HDTV Plasma Television ~ This television was an excellent value for what it should really be sold for.  I purchased this tv with the intentions of converting my satellite receiver to an HD receiver, but instead the quality of the tv screen is unbelievable.  The colors are vibrant and eye popping considering the large size of the screen.

I do have to admit that the sound quality is not the best but it is nothing that a really good surround sound system wouldn't help.  From the experience I have had with different tv sets, the sound quality of the tv is only as good...

I recently purchased a Panasonic 50 in. TH50PX77U  HD plasma TV.  It was to replace a 42 in. plasma bought 5 years ago.  My husband and I did a lot of online research and liked what we read.  The price was comparable with other Plasma TV's.  This Panasonic had the fewest returns and best quality for the price.  We are sooo glad we did not go  with the Vizio or the Samsung.  This TV has made watching all our old movies seem new.  We also purchases a sony home theatre system with it.  The result is the best television we have ever seen. It is like going to the movies without the bother... review »

With speakers on the side, the box it comes in a large (about 54-55").  But once out of the box, it is easy to set up and connect to cable via HDMI.  I also bought a Panasonic sound system (which is also great), and the two synched effortlessly.  The picture is very sharp, and surprisingly bright for a Panasonic (which are usually darker because of the true black screen).  Everything is easily adjusted via on-screen menus.  The 77U is this year's model (as opposed to the 75U), and the picture is the biggest selling point.  We went to 3 separate stores so we could compare the picture to others... review »

Just purchased a Panasonic 50" plasma 750 after agonizing about spendin the extra 1K for the 1080i. I am so happy with this TV I am glad I did not go for the 1080i. This set may not please those who are absolutely intent on the very latest technology, but I really had trouble discerning this set from the 1080i's of some others like Vizio, LG, and others which are definitely not up to this quality picture. The SD card reader slot right on the front of the set is a fantastic feature. Pop the card out of the camera and into this slot in less than 10 seconds and the slide show is on in 50" perfect... review »

Did some research before buying. Deciding between brands and the different types of tv's that are available. Decided on paying a bit more for a better rated tv. It was worth it. The color and picture quality is amazing. The only thing lacking is the sound quality. Numerous adjustments can be made as far as color and picture sizing. Have had very slight burn in on the screen, but faded shortly after watching something different. I have had the tv for 7 months and am already looking to purchase the 60 inch. Recommended. Cartoon colors are so vibrant, you would not be disappointed.

We got this TV about a month ago and have been really happy with it overall.  It has great picture quality when the shows are broadcast in 720p or 1080i (this is a 720p TV).  The picture is a little grainy when watching channels in SD but that is to be expected since it's such a big screen.  We got this TV over the 75U version because of the anti-glare screen, which has been great.  The sound quality is also pretty good for this TV.  Overall, you can't beat the price for a great TV like this one, especially with the great reputation of Panasonic.

We bought this TV the day before that Superbowl. We were told it was the best there is for the last 2 years in consumer digest, brother in law said Panasonic was best, but could not find tv anywere. We finally looked online and our local Sears had 2 left. Our luck they had it and it was on sale for only $1499 and that was anywere from $100-$400 less than everywhere else plus a rebate.

The picture quality is excellent. The onlly problem is the sound speaker make noise. We are still figuring out the tv and may figure that one out soon.

After looking around at all the selections for a Plazma and/or LCD TV, we decided that for the money, our best bet would be the Panasonic Plazma.  Well, when you get it home and hooked up with your HDMI cables and all, it is great.  Sometimes the detail is so much that you wish it wasn't.  You can see every detail of an actors face and sometimes they are not as pretty as you thought.  But again, this could make us normal folks feel better just to know they are not all perfect either.  It is great.

My husband and I bought the Panasonic 50" Plasma TV for our birthdays in October. We are HUGE movie buffs and no longer go to the movies because we have our own movie theater in our house! This TV is high quality! Great picture, Great color and sound. There is nothing I don't like about this TV! It even has a memory card reader for your camera. you can view your pictures on the TV! There is less glare compared to other Plasmas. Great price too! I would recomend this TV to everyone!

So my family and I went to Best Buy and got a super sweet deal on a  50' inch Panasonic Viesta plasma television last winter.  It's beautiful the picture is great, and the sound is wonderful.  The rempote is user-friendly along with the menu options on the television.  We hooked up the Playstation 3 & Nintendo Wii and I have to say holy frickin' canoli the gigantic picture is so awesome.

The Panasonic 50 in. HDTV Plasma Screen was the best choice we could have made in buying a television.  It has an excellent picture and is high quality.  We got it on sale, but we would have paid more if need be to get the kind of quality it has.  We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great TV with a great picture.  The only setback we see is that it runs up the electric bill noticeably.

Went from a 60 in projector TV to 50 in Plasma and I don't miss those 10 in due to the quality of the picture.  The price was good at Best Buy.  The sharpness of the picture is worth the cost.  The colors are crisp and clear.  The TV is thin but HEAVY!!!  Fits well on the TV stand.  Remote is easy to use.  Menu is easy to understand

The Panasonic - TH-50PX77U 50 in. HDTV Plasma Television has a great picture and sound.  Was very easy to set up.  Had it running in less than 15 min.  Took me longer to get rid of the box.

The Colors are sharp, vivid and crisp.  It's like being in a movie theatre.
