I take Nature Made Milk Thistle for my liver. I have an elevated liver enzyme and experience occasional pain in my abdomen over the liver. Since I started taking this product my liver enzyme has been lower and even normal in blood tests. I haven't experienced any side effects with it. Very thankful for this product.

I DONT HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS BRAND,THE BEST SELLING BRAND WAS FROM GERMANY BUT REGARDLESS PEOPLE BOUGHT THE NOW ONE AND IT TOO WORKED. ONE LADY CAME IN AND SAID HER LIVER WAS SHOT.HER DR HAD TOLD HER SHE WOULD NEED A TRANSPLANT. WELL THIS CUSTOMER STARTED USING MILK THISTLE AND WOULD YOU BELIEVE MONTHS LATER SHE WENT TO GO GET CHECKED OUT AGAIN AND THE DR WAS BAFFLED BECAUSE HER LIVER ENZYMES WERE SO MUCH BETTER. About 12 years ago I got Lyme Disease from a tick bite. Within a year, I was getting high liver enzyme readings. Not sure if it's genetic (my brothers have this issue too) or a combo of having Lyme Disease, but one doctor said I would probably have Primary Bilary Cirrhosis in my late 50s which really scared me. I was scheduled to have a liver biopsy, but I cancelled it for a second, even third opinion. In the meantime, I looked up info about PBC and found that taking Milk Thistle would help my liver. I think Dr. Sandra Cabot did steer me in that direction. I bought her 'mix' of herbs, but saw the main ingredient was indeed Milk Thistle, so I started to take it and have taken it daily for 8.5 years. I have some issues with other things like nerve damage or arthritis, but I think my liver is holding it's own. Milk thistle is good stuff-it saved the lives of immigrants who had eaten poisonous mushrooms when the doctors didn't know what else to do. I do usually buy Nature Made products for their good prices.

Nature Made Milk Thistle literally saved my life I feel.  Without it I probably wouldn't be here now. A few years ago my doctor told me that according to my blood tests it wouldn't be long before I would need a liver transplant in order to survive.  I am Diabetic, have high Cholestorol and had extremely high Triglycerides.  Therefore I had to take multiple types of medications which were destroying my liver.  It was the high Triglycerides that showed I was close to needing a liver transplant. Our hands were rather tied "HE" felt as I needed the medications to survive especially the 3 Diabetes medications I was taking.  His only suggestion was to keep working on my diet and exercise and hope that we could possibly cut down on some of the medications. I felt there had to be something else that I could do.  I started E:Mailing friends and talking to family in the hopes of finding something that could possibly help me.  As luck would have it my husbands cousin had Hepatitis at one time.  Nothing would cure him until he read and heard about Milk Thistle.  He started taking heavy doses of it and in a few years his Hepatitis was gone. One of my good friends told me that she had high Triglycerides at one time.  She went to a Homeopathic doctor and that person told her to take Milk Thistle.  She started taking heavy doses of it and it wasn't long until they went away. A third friend related a story about a lady that worked with her.  It seems she had Hepatitis as well.  Upon taking Milk Thistle she was cured too. That was all I needed to hear.  I headed to Wal*Mart to get me some.  As is always the case there were a few different brands to choose from.  I ended up choosing the Nature Made brand as it was the cheapest.  Being on a very narrow budget I had to pick the cheapest. I came home and immediately took my first dose.  I started out with 6 per day.  Ugh... with all the other pills I have to take a day it was a real chore to take that many let me tell you.  But I stuck to 6 per day until I went back to the doctor in 45 days. He did a blood test and much to his surprise and mine my Triglyceride level was NORMAL!!!!  I told him what I had done differently in the last 45 days.  He told me I should NEVER take things like that.  He would not recommend my continued use of the Milk Thistle and basically told me to stop taking it.  Needless to say I did not listen to him and promptly found a new doctor who advocates herbs and minerals. This was almost 4 years ago.  Since getting my normal Triglyceride blood test I now take 2 Nature Made Milk Thistle per day to maintain my healthy liver.  Each and every blood test for the last 4 years have come back normal.  And there is no liver transplant looming in my future. I have never switched to another brand even though once in a while I do see a cheaper brand in the stores I frequent.  I feel that the Nature Made brand worked for me and continues to work for me so why switch.  You don't try and fix something if it is not broken.  Therfore I give Nature Made Milk Thistle a 5 Star rating!!!!!
