Works well, if you're willing to jump through a few hoops...

We received this as a warranty replacement for another Insignia model. It's a very attractive component that is very sleek looking. It's easy to wipe down, as I think we all have issues with dust around our electronics, and has lots of very convenient features. I especially like that it has wireless streaming capabilities with video services like Netflix. I don't think that we've been to a video rental store since we got this thing! That being said it also has some serious issues. After about a week of use it would have a green screen when you turned on the television. No visible menu or screensaver graphic, just a green screen. We returned it. They plugged it in at the store and it worked just fine! They did give us a new one and I assumed all would be smooth sailing. I was wrong. After three days it started doing the same thing only this one also had green and purple blobs when I would try to use the streaming feature. Instead of running what we were trying to watch it was just green and purple on the screen, sometimes with sound sometimes not. I unplugged it and had intended to take it back to the store. My son, not knowing that it had stopped working again, plugged it back in and started using it. We didn't return it, as this seems to be a defect with this product, but instead have put it in my son's room and he just deals with it. If you unplug it it resets itself, so that's what we do. We have it plugged into a surge strip with a switch that we just switch off when it acts up and then switch it back on. It's a major pain to me, but my son doesn't mind.

Great BluRay Player

This is a great blu-ray player, especially love the fact that it has a built in Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi was easy to set up, and I have not had any problems with it. The main reason that I chose this blu-ray player is because of the built in Wi-Fi and Netflix streaming capability. I'm overall very happy with this blu-ray player, even though sometimes the wi-fi gets disconnected; I believe it's my internet connection and not the Wi-Fi. The quality of the video is great; it has 1 HDMI port and an USB port. HDMI cable is not included, but it's a must if you want to experience a full 1080 picture and digital surround sound. In this price range this is the best you can get. The only thing that I kind of dislike about this blu-ray player and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the remote. The remote is unusually long and oddly shaped and kind of difficult to navigate, I'm always hitting the wrong button on the remote. It might take a little bit of getting used to. I would recommend this bluray player to anyone who wants to save money and enjoy blu-ray and Netflix. Pandora and Cinema Now are also available, but I personally have not used them.

For some reason my Insignia will not play Blu-ray discs. I'm highly unsatisfied with this. It plays Netflix so I like it for that reason. I think I got a faulty one I guess. I got two of em and one plays discs just fine. The one that is not working so hot is just a big let down. I don't have the time or energy to save boxes and send this back to the sender. There was a problem with it when it came to me. It was brand new when I got it. I've only had it for 2 months or so now. I like the Netflix feature though. That is a real plus, really that is the only reason I'm not sending it back. I'd love to tell you guys to go out and get this but I really can't I don't know if I just got a weird one that won't play any discs at all or not. My other one is working just fine like I said. The Netflix is slow sometimes and it takes forever to load. Sometimes it acts weird but I'm guessing it's because it's Wifi.
