Gardener's Supply 50' Coiling Garden Hose Review Summary

The idea is great say home gardeners - a hose that rolls itself up instead of snaking across the yard for all the world to see if you don't take the time to wrap it up every time you water. While a few reviewers found the Gardener's Coiling Hose is "just the thing," most were quite disappointed in what they thought and hoped would be the perfect garden hose. Problems noted were that the hose tangles up like a Slinky, it wraps around and pulls up plants, and it's too narrow to build the pressure needed to use it with a sprinkler.

I really like this hose because you don't have to hassle with the hose by unrolling and fighting kinks out of it.  I wish it was easier to stretch it but it makes up for it because it doesn't need to be rolled back up.  The price isn't too unreasonable either.  If I would add… read full review »

The standard garden hose is very functional, but also very heavy and unwieldy.  That's what led me to the Gardener's Supply website to purchase Item #32-035 - "The Hose That Puts Itself Away " The 50-foot Coiling Garden Hose is advertised as a lightweight product that frees you from the… read full review »

I just love my coiling hose.  My mother had it first and couldn't stand it, I think she was trying to pull it to far into the yard.  Oh my gosh! it just perfect for me.  We have a tall deck from a two story home with a basement.  It was always a hassle trying to water my many pots of flowers.  My Mr. Fix-it husband brought the water turn on spout to the top of the deck. We attached the coil hose & perfect now I can water the deck & even go into the sunroom.  The coil hose is so easy to handle, not like a heavy water hose you drag across the lawn.  When… read full review »

I hate the look of hoses in front of my house. I thought this would be a great alternative. Looks good at first - but after I stretched it to water the flowers by the mailbox a few times - it lost all its coil and became a tangled slinky! — I tried to use it with a sprinkler to water the grass - WHOOPS! the hose is too narrow to get enough pressure to make the sprinkler work - so I need the regular hose for the sprinkler. Now I have two hoses in the front yard - one for watering the plants/pots (old curly) and one for watering the grass (old faithful). — Well, that was a failed… read full review »

This is a super solution when installed in a permanent location where low water volume is adeiquate for the immediate area. I use it at the front of the house to water plants with a wand and rinse off the patio steps and windows. It is ease to pull out and recoils easily on its own without the use of a hose reel or hanger. Just needs a little intellengent care. it has never caused me a problem, but if you try to treat it as portable garden hose, you'll be disappointed.… read full review »

to hard to open if you have hand problems, does'nt fit on a hose reel — good for storing but that is about all, can't get it around plant easy and it is very stiff to work with.I can't use because of neck and arm injury... — not good for sen. or children and is over priced. — the good old hoses are the best easy to use with a hose reel.and can be stored even easier —… read full review »

This is such a horrible product.  i was really excited about it when i saw it at costco and was one of the first to buy one.  boy, was that a waste of time and money.  it coils up just fine, the problem is in getting it around and uncoiling it.  you have to fight it constantly.  trying to move it from pot to pot  was just a nightmare. … read full review »

These hoses are great if you do not have to manuever around plants to get to the faucet.  They will take down and take out anything in their way.  They will re-curl on their own which makes for easy storage however they are difficult to keep where you want them while moving around the garden to… read full review »

I thought this would be a great hose for my constant gardening needs.  But I find the hose is too narrow for good watering ability.  It doesn't have enogh pressure to water a large yard like I have.  This would probably be great for a patio garden.  I thre mine… read full review »

It is pretty expensive relative to the standard hose and really did not hold up to the advertised pitch of coiling back up for easy storage.  It took every bit as much effort to coil it back up and store as with the standard hose of comparable… read full review »
