After two years of using this modern marvel, I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. One bonus features I enjoy very much includes a programmable timer with digital readout, so you can set your slow cooker to eight hours on high or say, ten hours on low. For busy cooks who may not be home exactly when the slow cooker timer is done, this automatically will switch a "warm" mode for many hours, ensuring meats will not spoil if you don't make it home on time. The Dr. Weil slow cooker looks great and stays clean much easier my first slow cooker, which needed a liner to avoid making a mess inside. I'm not a fan of using a plastic liner for health reasons, and much prefer the ceramic insert the Dr. Weil slow cooker comes with. Five quart capacity is excellent for making soups, stews and with it's oval shape, you can even fit a four or five pound chicken with room to spare. Knowing the ceramic insert is lead-free, and ingredients retain their vitamins when cooked slow, makes this slow cooker a great investment in any kitchen.
