This machine makes any home sewn item look like store bought (or better!). It cuts edges perfectly, and sews lovely finished seams that look professional. Working with knits is very easy, and it is simple to do 'lettuce' edges, and other little 'tricks' to embellish your items. You can mix thread colors to do decorative stitching with some techniques, and once you learn to thread it, it is quite simple to use. There are interesting threads available to those who want to do a little 'extra' to their work, and the machine is designed so that periodic maintenance is also quite easy. Stitch Performance Wonderful! Straight and even. Ease of Use A bit of a learning curve, but otherwise fabulous! Fabric Handling Great with all but really thick denim (at least so far). Gentle with knits, does not stretch seams if fed correctly. Versatility Rated satisfactory, because I don't know what versatility would entail with this machine, which is designed especially to join and bind seams. Design Very simple to thread and clean/maintain Durability So far, so good...heavy and seems like it will last forever. Moving parts seem quite stable, and although moved many, many times, I have not observed any type of problems.
