This was one of the very first electric skillets that I have purcahsed and it has handled the required tasks quite well. What I really like about this skillet is that it has Dupont not stick coating. This is quite important because when you are stirring the contents, you want the skillet to not move across the counter. This provides that. One of my favorite things to do with this is to cook a whole chicken in it and the depth of the skillet allows this to happen flawlessly. The performance of this skillet is quite good. You are able to reach the desired temperature very quickly. It's very versatile, you can make almost anything with it. It's dishwasher safe, and the non stick coating makes it very nice to clean. I don't like the plastic lid though because it can get hot, however there may be some residue plastic taste that may be retained in the food. Not too sure if that would pose a health risk, and it would be better to look for an option with a glass lid instead.

I guess this product was okay for what I paid for. I found it to be satisfactory for pancakes or some simple sauté but the heat distribution was problematic for anything that requires a careful hand in preparing anything of a delicate nature. If it is breakfast or simple grilled cheese sandwiches it's fine but anything more you are taking a chance of either burning it due to excessive heat or absorption of oils in foods due to lower heat causing soggy and greasy outcome. The heat element is not very accurate and the inconsistent heat makes it difficult to count on in a sauté situation. Doesn't Stick After a short while the nonstick wore down pretty quickly. Probably due to the heat ups and downs. Heat Distribution Terrible heat distribution for sautéing. Over the heat element your food gets scorched if not careful. Design A bit smaller than average electric skillets out there. Durability The non stick finish wore out over the heat element after a pretty short time.

We use our Rival Electric Skillet for many types of meals, including eggs, pancakes, sauteing vegetables, stirfry, and fried rice just to name a few. We appreciate the easy temperature control. The non-stick feature was also great, but after almost 3 years of regular use, it has worn off. Now, I'm concerned about the health dangers this may pose, so we may need to replace it soon. In addition, when we need to lift the lid to stir, flip, or check our meals, we often forget to turn down the temperature first, so we've had a lot of oil and grease splatters. On the positive side, the skillet features quick cleanup and the ability to cook a whole meal in one "pan", which is a great bonus for a busy family. Durability We used ours for 3 years before needing to replace it due to the non-stick surface flaking and chipping.
