One of my sons first tipped me off about this inverter. I was debating about getting a car lighter adapter for my PDA, and he told me to get this instead because it was a single solution for operating all the small electronics we use in the car. Everything we owned had come with an AC adapter or charger. This would accept all those adapters, so we wouldn't have to buy a lighter adapter for each electronic gizmo. What a deal! I didn't consider this item to be expensive, especially in light of how many adapter purchases it eliminated: laptop, PDA, portable DVD player. The list has gotten even longer since I purchased the inverter. I've had this item for several years and it never gives me major grief. It certainly always works, and has never gotten fried from sitting in a hot car. About the only annoying thing I can think of about it is that it slides around a bit. I wouldn't mind if it had something on its bottom that would make it cling to the carpeting. The bottom is flat and smooth; maybe I should put something on it. Duh. Because it's old, I don't think my particular model is available anymore. But that's not bad news. The model that replaces it maxes out at 400 watts, has two AC sockets instead of one, plus includes a USB port. If your household is anything like mine, all those will get claimed real fast during more than a brief trip.
