Pedia Lax fiber gummies may work for some kids, but not ours.

Pedia Lax fiber gummies were suggested for my three year old daughter by her pediatrician. She has had ongoing problems with constipation and we weren't sure what to do for long-term. We gave her a few of these a day,and after about a week or two, I don't think it made any difference. They do taste good, just like gummy candies, but in looking at them too, it is a little hard to believe that they have fiber in them. I am not especially fond of feeding my kids candy for medicine, so we will be going to try something else after these did nothing at all. Maybe they would be good if it was just some irregularity, but for all out constipation, don't waste your time or your money. I am very disappointed that I did. I wish they had come in a smaller, cheaper bottle as well, because now I am stuck with the rest of a huge bottle, and they didn't work. Pedia Lax usually makes good products that I trust, but for uses with constipation issues, this is not your medicine.

I bought these for my daughter, who has a problem keeping regular. There are not many products on the market for this problem that are geared to children, and that are not too harsh. She does need to take something on a regular basis as her diet like many children is not enough to keep her regular. When she did take them, I did not really see a great deal of change. To add to this they are quite expensive, and rarely go on sale. If you were to take them regularly, it would be quite costly. The upside to this is that since they are like candy they taste great to kids, and my daughter does not mind taking them. She does think they are candy in fact instead of medicine. I guess if you were to use these periodically they would be ok, but I would not recommend them to someone who has an ongoing issue. Due to the cost and the frequency with which you have to take them, there are better products on the market.

My kids are often my "test subjects" and their kids are sometimes their "test subjects" -this is one of those cases. My granddaughter has had a problem with constipation since she was a baby, her brothers have not. When the opportunity to try out Pedia Lax Fiber Gummies came around I was more than happy to see if my daughter would be willing to try them out on my grandchildren to see if they made a difference. The kids were excited to get the package and couldn't wait for their Mom to remove the security seal. She did so and gave each child a gummie. They didn't seem to care that no one could tell that the gummies were supposed to be penguins and my granddaughter proclaimed, "these are the best tasting vitamins EVER!!" When I asked my daughter about her further experiences with the Pedia Lax Fiber Gummies in an email, she replied, "My kids are no strangers to the gummy vitamin world. Every morning, they take 2 multi-vitamin gummy bears and 2 omega-3 gummy fish. So I thought it would be easy to remember to add these fiber gummies into the mix, but it wasn't. Each morning, they both received their multi-vitamins, their omega-3 vitamins, and one of the fiber gummies. But according to the package instructions, they needed to receive one vitamin three times a day. It was not easy to remember to make this part of the habit at every meal." Because the kids get plenty of natural fiber in their diet, three gummies a day gave them the "runs" so the dosage had to be cut back. The 1.5 grams of polydextrose fiber really works! For them one gummy per day was all it took to keep them regular. **Bottom Line:** I really like the fact that the gummies are not made with sugar concentrates. The sweetener, Xylitol used in manufacturing the gummies may even help curb cavaties. The fiber supplement is geared towards 2-11 year olds. I would start out gradually, maybe giving a child one per day and seeing how their body handles that and then increasing the dosage if needed. My daughter says, "All-in-all, I would highly recommend this product to parents whose children are not getting the adequate amount of fiber in their diet on their own. My kids loved them, and I am sure other kids will too."
