***I used the patch not really thinking it was going to work but I was determined to quit for health purposes. The nicotine patch really does work it definitly calms down the irratability factor and urge. In my mind I often feel that I want to smoke and it is sometimes hard to get past that feeling but I also live with someone that constantly smokes right in front of me. Most of the time I forget all about wanting to smoke, the urge still comes and goes but it is mostly in my mind from habit. It has been 57 days for me smoke free now and I am on the end of step 2 of the patch. I did have some problems with the patch not staying on but I learned not to leave my patches in the bathroom medicine cabinet as it causes to much moisture in there. I do not believe that I could have quit without the nicotine patch. I would not want to try anything else to quit smoking because I don't want the side effects from medication, I do not believe it is necessary when you can use the patch and not have any side effects. I would defintly recommend this product as it is working very well for me. If I can go 57 days without smoking then why would I ever want that bad habit again.***

This does work but only if you allow it, I personally used it and it worked for me, but...I was weak (frown) didn't really want to quit, found that nothing works unless you WANT IT TO.  But I would recommend it, but keep in mind that it takes two to tango. I absolutely agree that it does in fact deminish the urge for nicotine and I was very conscious of the patch. I didn't have any side effects from this product did not suffer anxiety or any of the other symptoms

I tried the nicotine patch for the first time this year. I was worried that it might not stay on very well, but I didn't have any problems with it falling off.  The nicotine patch is very effective for reducing withdrawal symptoms. It took off the edge. I was not as anxious or irritable as I would have been without the patch. However, I was too impatient to use the patch. I used it for a week and wanted to stop, but you need to use it longer and taper off. Also, it costs a lot of money.  If you think about it, it is better to spend your money on something that is good for your health than cigarettes, but that is not what I was thinking when I was trying to quit. It wasn't worth it to me.  When I stopped using it, I was extremely irritable and started smoking again. I decided that the patch just prolongs quitting. I still had nicotine in my system, so I would still experience withdrawal when I got off of it. I ended up trying again cold turkey and that worked better for me. However, for people who don't want to go cold turkey and use the patch, it is helpful with reducing withdrawal symptoms. It does what it is supposed to do.
