Hoover Floor Mate Hard Floor Cleaner

I have two teenagers, two indoor outdoor cats, and a husband who has no idea what the phrase "please wipe your feet" means, and this Hoover wasn't what I was hoping for. Maneuverability The good news it that this floor cleaner is light weight and maneuvers easily. It doesn't have swiveling head, but its low front does fit nicely under cupboards in the kitchen. Unfortunately, it does struggle with tight corners and cleaning up to edges of walls. Ease of Maintenance I did like how easy it was to assemble and to clean and replace the water. Suction Performance I found that it was able to easily vacuum up small items on the floor like dust and dirt. Larger food particles like pasta parts still had to be hand swept. Its suction of the water was also ok. It tended to leave some small puddles. All in all, easier that a dust pan and boom, followed by a mop. Versatility I was much more pleased with how it did on hard wood floors than its performance on the tile. With the grout and tile divots, dirt was often left behind. Design I appreciate the light weight design and the length of the cord.

Where has this been all my life?!

I am in love with my Floormate! I have all tile floors that need to be swept/mopped frequently. This lovely item is saving my back AND my sanity! I am a pet owner and a parent, so time is precious. I highly recommend anyone with hard floors own a Floormate! Very easy to use and although it doesn't deep clean as well as old fashioned scrubbing, it's perfect for using daily and does a great job!

i cant stand the floor mate!

My mother in law has ran through two floor mates and she thinks they are great. She gave me one, and I can't stand it. I would much rather just sweep and mop traditionally. I think it gets things much cleaner and is much easier than the silly floor mate. It is for light jobs, but you have to drag it out, plug it in, use their solution, etc. and it is hard to get into certain parts of you house especially around tight corners. It is just not worth all the effort in my opinion. It is not for deep cleaning in my opinion. Its so much easier to just vacuum the floor or sweep the floor than to drag this thing out. Its not heavy, it just doesn't work good enough to use for these very simple jobs that can be done with a simple broom and mop.

My floors are clean!

Keeping our floors clean is an on-going challenge.  We have multiple pets in the house, and we are always tracking mud and dust in from outside.  Truly, a regular mop was just not getting the job done for us. On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try a Hoover Floormate.  The first time I used it, I struggled with getting the right amount of water solution on the floor for the scrubbers to get the tile clean.  For some of the really stuck on stuff, I had to go over the area multiple times to get it really clean.  The Floormate does an excellent job of sucking up the water and left a reasonable dry surface behind.   Our ceramic tile floors were clean and streak-less when done.  I do wish it could do a little better in the deep grout areas.  The unit came with a container of solution to mix with water.  My friend who recommended the unit to me advised that after that was gone, I could use just about any floor cleaning solution with the same results.  Since we are very careful about what we use on the floors our animals tread on, I will likely opt for a less caustic solution next time; perhaps simply vinegar and water. For those dried up spots of stuff caked on the floor, I found spraying them with water to soften them up before I started cleaning did help.   Overall, I am satisfied with the Floormate.  It's nice to come away feeling like the floors are safe for bare feet again.  :)

Nothing Cleans Better

The Floormate does a great job on our ceramic tile floors.  Our floors are very light colored and they can be a nightmare to keep clean.  I do hate dragging the Floormate out and prepping it, but it probably isn't any more time comsuming than mopping.  It does a great job of actually scrubbing the floor and then going back and sucking up the wet cleaner so your floor dries.  Sometimes I get some strips of water remaining, but not enough to worry about.  I would recommend it to anyone who had a lot of tile in their home.  Every time I empty the dirty water out I am both amazed and disgusted!  It makes me realize that I probably should use it more regularly, but as it is, I use it more for a deep cleaning.  I would not suggest it for small spaces.

The Hoover Floormatere finally a way to clean off your knees!

I love this machine.  I do not have to get down on my knees to clean the whole house anymore.  I just put in the water and soap and go.  I have found that you can use other cleaners besides the one the offer or "want" you to buy.  So dont take their word for it.  It cleans great and is space saving as the handle folds to store.  Only thing I do not like is the filter that has to be changed and I have to order a new soap and water tray already (I use it Way TO MUCH), I've had the machine for 5 years now.I would recommend this to anyone with children a husband or animals.

Hoover Floormate - Very time-consuming to use.

You can pick up the dirty water after washing the floor.  You can see the dirt & stuff that's on there.  Just think what's left if you use a regular wet mop - yucky!!!  However, this thing is extremely bulky and heavy to use, so I didn't use it too much because it was such a pain to drag out and drag around.

The floor mate is my mate!

The Hoover Floormate is one of the best purchases I've ever made.  It does everything it says.  I have trouble with my hip so being able to clean the floors properly has been great.  It gets everything off the floor with the vacuum feature with no problem.  I have pets, this picks up hair without it flying around.  When I use the mop feature I take off the brushes and wet floor first.  Then re-attach them and scrub and pick up at the same time.  The floors don't dry as well that way, but they still dry very quickly.  Alot quicker than if I mopped.  Another thing I like is I'm using clean water at all times and don't have to use alot of it.  I recommend this to everyone.

Mixed feelings

Both my cousin and a friend of mine thought the Hoover Floormate was great. I purchased one online. It had to be assembled and when assembled, the liquid "squirter" didn't work. I had to return the product. I later heard from other owners that ofter there are squirt hose issues if not at first, at least later on.    Although it does a good job of cleaning my ceramic floors, it isn't the best or most convenient floor cleaner I've ever used. It doesn't fit into small spaces so it's not too good to use in my bathroom. The scrubbing brushes aren't all that effective. It is easy to dump the dirty water container so it has it all over the mop and bucket in that respect.

Great, but not in tight spots

The Hoover Floormate H3000 does a great job vacuuming and washing the floors.  I honestly have never seen my floors so clean.  I have laminate in my kitchen and hardwood in other rooms and it works with both. (Just get the cleaner that does hardwood.) My only problem is it doesn't fit into tight spaces well.  Places where my old vacuum just needed to plug in an attachment to get to.  There are no attachments with this.  So with buying this my hubby had to buy a handheld Shark so now I have to go over each room twice instead of just once.  It doesn't get stuff out from just under the refrigerator or the oven, places where food tends to fall.
