We really enjoy our GE microwave oven! This has been a nice addition to our kitchen since we installed it over a year ago. We like the easy buttons on the front, though the touchpad seems to wear away fairly simply. We like the power of the microwave--it makes water boil very quickly! What a nice appliance for our kitchen, and we love that it matches our stove and oven! Performance This microwave has very easy to use buttons, and it is very powerful. Settings/Features We love the easy start time buttons. You just have to push one button once you close the door with food in the microwave to get it to go! Ease of Cleaning Microwaves often go overlooked when it comes to cleaning, but even after a while since its last cleaning, it is easy to clean! Ease of Use So simple! Durability Has lasted us really well, but we've only had it one year. Design We really like the way it looks, especially since it matches our other appliances.

I bought this GE microwave as part of a kitchen set from GE. The microwave is one of my favorite pieces in this set. Not only is it easy to use, but it has various settings and seems to cook food better than microwaves I've had in the past. It also includes a vent fan with low and high settings which is nice. Performance Great microwave at a great price. I have had no complaints in the performance department since owning this microwave for a little over a year. Settings/Features Various settings and features are great on this microwave. You are able to use different buttons for quick cooking (such as a potato button, a reheat button, and a popcorn button). Very easy to use and figure out too!! Ease of Cleaning Easy to clean, as the stainless steel wipes of easily. The inside requires a little more time to clean, but has a removeable dish so it is easy to clean that. Ease of Use So easy to use that kids can figure it out on there own! Durability We have two small children and this microwave remains very durable after a year of heavy use. No complaints here. Design I really like the overall design of this microwave. There is only one problem that i have. This microwave comes with a metal rack inside (in the midpoint of the microwave)...I have taken mine out and just keep it out because I feel like it cuts the microwave in half so much that I was constantly removing it to have dishware fit in it.

I purchased the GE JVM1740DM microwave to go over our new range. I wasn't looking to be able to roast a turkey or do some of the things that some new microwaves can do. I primarily wanted to be able to heat or reheat food. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more powerful in heating the food more quickly. I also find that it heats unevenly through the thickness and I am always having to flip whatever I'm heating halfway through the cooking time so that the top is as warm as the bottom of the item. After the original installation most of the keypad wouldn't work. Since it was under warranty, a serviceman came out and had to order a replacement panel, which meant I had to wait for it to arrive to reschedule him to return and install it. The microwave has not had any problems with the keypad since.

I hate this Microwave. It worked great for 2 years, and then after the warrenty time was over (1 year warrenty) is started making a loud vibrating noise. After research...it looks like the Magnometer is defective on these units and there is now a class action lawsuit against GE. Try calling them on the phone and after you speak to idiots in India...they will give you the run around and want to charge you more to fix their defective unit. I threw this defective crap in the trash...and bought a micowave from another company. I WILL NEVER...EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM GE. My Dishwasher and Refridgerator also had to be replaced. I bought a Bosch Dishwasher (It is fantastic). People...please VOTE with you MONEY! G E ... they bring bad garbage to you (Not Bring Good Things to Life).

I absolutely value microwaves at this time in my life.  The GE Spacemaker is an excellent tool in my kitchen.  It has reduced my cooking times by twenty minutes or more.  Most of the functions available on the microwave allow the user to push just one button.   For example, to pop popcorn just place the bag in the microwave, close the door and press the popcorn button.  You can also let the microwave bake a potato by pressing the 'potato' button available on the console. Also, if the items that you are cooking are for 6 minutes or less, then just place the items in the microwave press 1 for one minute or 5 for five minutes and it starts.  It's really a time saver and simple to use.  I like to use it to reduce the time it takes to defrost food. So, I just place the frozen food in the microwave, press  the 'defrost' button, enter weight of the produce, then start. Viola!  The microwaves determine the amount of time necessary to defrost the item based on its weight.  It's a really smart machine.  You can also set a timer or alarm on this microwave and I have used both features.  The manual that accompanies the microwave is short and simple to understand. I only had to reference it once to determine how to change the power level setting. I would recommend the GE Spacesaver as a excellent microwave based its capabilities and price range.
