this desktop rocks

I purchase the Dell T3400 desktop alon with a 21-inch screen for my office about a year and a half back. Over the years, I have found that the Dell line of computers is incomparable in terms of utility and reliability, and this desktop also follows the same characteristics. This unit is a mid-level desktop but has several expansion slots which I find to be invaluable since I always add cards (graphic and otherwise) for my work needs. The Dell screen that I purchased along with this unit is great. In fact, later I added another screen so that my deskspace viewing area has now doubled. The computer is great for computing. I use a lot of detailed Fortran codes for my work, and the turnaround computing time is very good.

The Dell T3400 is an excellent performer

The Dell Precision T3400 desktop computer falls under the "workstation" classification. This means that it is a full size computer designed for use in a business environment where demanding applications are common. I have been using this particular model for about a year now and it has been rock solid. I have only had to reboot it for Windows Updates. It has never locked up or bluescreened. Without a doubt it is one of the most reliable computers I have ever used. Some people may not like the bulky size or styling but when it is sitting under your desk you cannot see it. It has several extra slots for more memory, hard drives and expansion boards. The fact it is upgradable means it is very future proof. When ordered with a high config such as a quad core processor and 8gb of RAM, I could see this workstation lasting 5-6 years for the average to moderate user. Overall I would recommend this computer to friends.

Fast & fantastic!

After several years of using a home-built Shuttle system, I decided to return to the reliable world of Dell. I'm a gamer, a techie, and a home-based consultant--reliability, performance, and speed are important to me. The Dell Precision T3400 is an all-around winner. The standard system will satisfy most basic users, and the system has many potential upgrades. I run with side-by-side 24" widescreen monitors, and the Precision handles them beautifully. Things I like best about the Precision T3400: - It's very quiet - It's fast, and has been completely reliable (even with Windows!) - The value for price is unbeatable - The warranty, although apparently unnecessary, is comfortably long - It's a standard tower setup, but with a sleek black and silver design - It has accessible microphone, headphone, and USB ports on the front of the case - It has room for several expansions The only thing I don't like about the Precision T3400: - Half of the front panel is comprised of air vents, so I have to watch the dust accumulate If you're considering a Dell, I'd highly recommend this one!

Lovin' this new computer for sure

I recently purchased the Dell Precision T3400 for my home office use.  I was truly apprehensive of moving to VISTA from the XP platform.  I am really pleased with the new computer.  It is fast.  It has numerous new features that make my work and personal life much easier and the time it took for me to learn VISTA was very short. This computer came with Microsoft Office Professional 2007, the three year basic limited warranty and three year NBD On site service, the NV 290 graphics card, 4GB memory, two DVD drives, a free upgrade to Windows 7 when released, your basic Dell speakers, a USB Entry quietkey keyboard and standard mouse. All my past computers have been Dells.  I have found their Customer Service to be superb; quick to assist and quick to fix any issues they could not resolve over the phone. I am extremely happy with the computer; its features; its performance and its looks. I would highly recommend this computer to anyone.

This computer is in use 24/7.  It is a fantastic computer for small business use and provides plenty of video card slots for multiple monitors.  I think its a great workstation for stock market investors/traders.  It's very sturdy and durable.  It's very easy to get the side open for cleaning or getting to the hardware which is a huge bonus as it saves you time.  The T3400 provides almost unlimited levels of customization.  You can choose which chasis configuration you want, operating system (can still get Windows XP), CD-ROM, DVD drives, the amount of memory, the hard drive, as well as which graphics cards you would like.   I personally chose the Mini-Tower chasis configuration, downgraded to Windows XP, chose no monitor, 2 GB of memory, the basic 160 gb hard drive (as I don's store many files on this computer), and chose the basic Nvidea NVS 290 card which powers my two 22 inch monitors flawlessly.  Lastly it has a 3 year basic limited warranty and a 3 year NBD on site service.  I've personally called tech support only once and the tech support with the small business side is much better than on the consumer side.   I've owned the Dell Precision T3400 for 10 months now and it has been by far the best value I've ever found in a workstation.
