the best super computer

I've always been a PC user and never even considered going to MAC, however, the power and speed of this machine, better yet, it deserves a better epithet: this monstrosity of a computer blew me out of the water as well as all the pcs i have ever own in my life time! The stock features are ample enough to run my everyday applications like final cut, word, and safari. The start up time of the OS (leopard) was very fast and i never had to wait. Installing apps was a zinch as well as uninstalling them. I noticed that after I leave it on for a while, the computer does increase the temperature of the room as i noticed it getting warmer. That could potentially be hazardous if i do extreme gaming. It also causes the room to get stuffy, so please operate with the door/window open (if possible)! Was a PC fan,new to Mac... Love it!

I have always been a PC user since I started using computers in the late 1990's. In February, I decided to buy a Mac Pro desktop to see what the big deal was. Setup was extremely simple and it runs excellent. I found my learning curve, from Windows to Mac, to be a minimal effort. Layout and closing screens is a little different, but easy to overcome. The case is solid, thick aluminum. Very sturdy, but a little on the heavy side. Adding components like RAM or an extra hard drive is very easy. Open up the side and they plug right in with no wires or screws to deal with. Software that comes standard on Mac is amazing. No need to pay extra for basic needs or even the cool stuff. Website creator, Garage band, iMovie. It is extremly easy to use. I have 4 other PC's that I never use anymore.

The Mac Pro is the best desktop for doing...anything

I have MacPro- 2 dual-core Xeon 2.66 MHz, 4 GB Ram, 250 GB HD.I have had for about 3 months and have not wanted to go back to a PC or Windows. It's truely easy to use and awesome performance. It was a little costly, especially getting the 23" CinemaView HD monitor, but I don't plan on having to upgrade for quite a few years. Yet, it offers the expandability if needed. It is definitely manufactured with very haigh quality. Even the package is simple, yet extremely effective.I'm still running Tiger but will be taking advantage of Leopard very soon. I also like the idea that , should I ever need to, load Windows XP or Vista on this machine, I can and it will be the best PC out there for running them.

The I-Mac is a powerhouse and looks awesome too.

The IMac is a powerhouse that looks awesome too. With the huge screen and great and slim footprint it is the ideal home computer. All of my systems run great, I can run any software application with ease, and the only time I've had it freeze on me is when I had tons of windows open (I'm talking 20 or more windows.) I use my computer for internet, e-mail, gaming, writing, photo editing, digital scrapbooking, schooling, recipe storage and much, much more. I love the large screen for viewing movies and watching on-line tv episodes. I can see it from clear across the room. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this computer. No pop ups, no annoying virus's (I have had none anyway), none of the annoying aspects I found with using my PC computers. This computer runs fast, is a workhorse and can handle anything I throw at it. So far I haven't found anything I don't like about it except the higher cost than a PC with the same basic features of hard-drive, memory and capabilities. I have now had my I-mac for a few years, and still find it to be an amazing machine. I love the screen size, and still fun multiple programs. It is starting to slow down, which I'm sure is due to all the "stuff" I have loaded on it, but I can't find how to clean it up, or what to do to make the system run more efficiently. A little stumped at the moment.

Love my MAC

I was a Windows person until my workplace gives me a MAC PRO. It takes a few days to get use to it. But like numerous people have said, you will never look back. It is stable, fast, quality built, beautifully designed inside out. I do heavy computing with this machine and it hasn't crashed once. And it is a little pricey though

It's a pretty good machine but a bit over priced.

This mac is pretty decent for first time mac buyers. However it seems a bit pricey and it's just like using a PC.. Macs aren't perfect machines. That means over time they will slow down just like a pc. Though with less viruses, it'll last a year or two longer then a pc.. but unforunately at twice the price.

Well..I had a meltdown of my G4 Mirrored Drive Door ..the power supply failed after 5-6 years..so..time to up grade. So I did. I figured I'd go for the top..could have chosen a referb older model or something , but as Apple has no other new, upgradeable computer than the Mac Pro (good biz , I guess..) I needed this one, as I wanted to put my old drives in the new. Of course this computer will only accept SATA or something else drives..not the older ones..like I have. I had four drives in the G4 , only one will work in the Mac pro! Don't be a dummy like me ..DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!! I found ALOT of my programs will not work on this new oh wow computer. AND my scanner is not supported either.. CS2?? Nope..Lightwave 8? Nope.. Several more as we go... SO...Read up and if you have a bunch of money and time...no worries!! But if you're like me and slow on the spending..well... open up the wallet as you need to let the moths out now!Other than that...Mrs Lincoln....the computer is GREAT!! I did purchase an additional 1.5 Terabyte from Connection and it just slipped in the drive bay , I formatted it, and off and running! Came with 3 GB of RAM..great for me so far, but memory is so cheap these days..upgrade is not going to be a prob.Very fast and clean as usual for Macs..I do recommend this machine for professionals..a bit overkill for the everyday user..but I like film editing (Final Cut old..nope!!) (gotta UPGRADE!!) so I want a fast machine...this is it..but I'll tell ya when the UPGRADES come in!!!Do your HOMEWORK FIRST!!!!!Go ahead..BUY IT!!! You deserve it!! You work hard!!! You'll be working forever anyway, so DO IT!!!!

The Apple Mac Pro is a superiour Machine.

The Apple Mac Pro is the greatest computer made. You can customize it to have 32 Gigabytes of Ram Which no other computer can compare to that. You can also upgrade the Harddrive from 2 Terabytes to 8 Terabytes which is un heard of in anyother system out there. This computer is great for anything and anyone. The graphincs are out of this world. So if your looking for the best this Mac Pro is what your looking for.

I bought a new Apple desktop 2 years ago and it is definetly an up grade over my old HP desktop. it never crashes and the Apple support team is fabulous. The MAC operating system is very user friendly despite reports you might hear on line. From now on when it's time to buy a new PC, it will surely be a Apple. i love my apple (mb871ll/a) mac desktop.

Becoming a MAC addict, how could you not?

5

I am in the IT field and have been for the last 10 years. I mostly worked on PC and servers and loved it. I never had a real itch to venture into the MAC world. I always thought the design was nice and all but that wasn't enough to get me to switch. In the last year my 2 windows boxes just up and died for reasons I cannot understand and I gave up trying to. I was told to look in to a MAC because according to my buddy " Dude it can run everything you had on those Windows boxes and more without ever having to worry about it dying, over heating or OS crashing". So,  I started to investigate a MAC Pro 8 core "Desktop". I visited the MAC store about 2-3 times a week for 2 hours a pop pretty much taking it apart without taking it apart. The 8 core technology on a "desktop" made it 6x faster than most Windows boxes out there and again its case design was so sleek, stylish and sexy. After about a month of that along with insane night hours on the net and watching videos, you can say I was sold on the specs and possibilities. But I was still a bit skeptic. You know what "they" say: if it's too good to be true, it probably is but did the leap of faith and I committed! I purchased one and did what I could not do int he store. I took it apart, physically. WOW! Am I still in the 21st Century. At 1st glance I had no idea what to do it was so beautify, so i took pictures. Apples' obsession with details and their vision showed in the design. The addition and removal of hardware could not be any easier. A PC novice could add and remove hardware from this box. The way the PCI cards snap in and out of place with no screws necessary, sharp. The easily accessible DIMM memory slots on 1 single pull out card, clever. The ability to add and remove up to 3 additional storage drives WITHOUT cables, genius. I ventured and added everywhere I could, topping out at 26GB RAM and 4.6TB of storage way more than the 2 Windows boxes could have give me together. A few days later I loaded Virtual machines via VMWare Fusion to really see what it can do and whether it lived up to its hype. I was able to load and run simultaneously, 6 different versions of Windows OS's with no obvious system degradation. I loaded Adobe CS4 and it ran faster than any dedicated Windows box I have ever used it on. I added printers, scanners, cameras, external hard drives and had no issues with software compatibility. Additionally, I was thorougly impressed with how quiet this beast was. My IBM laptop running Windows was louder than my MAC Pro running all teh VMs. How could you NOT become an addict, what's not to love? Apple have made everything for everyone easily available and get this, they all work together. That's unheard of. Available to you: iPhone, iPad, iMAC, MAC Mini, MAC Book, and MAC Pro. Don't fight it...just jump in and enjoy.
