Not A Fan of Colgate 1 in 1 Watermelon

3

Colgate is the one brand that my family has been using for years and years , Since my grandchildren sleep over often, I try to buy kid friendly Colgate Toothpastes. They like Watermelon so I thought this would be a good toothpaste to try. The extra bonus of mouthwash seemed like a good idea as well as they do not like to rinse with mouthwash. Well, I was wrong. The toothpaste is on the watery side and is not a thick gel so it drips a lot. Although they did not really mind the Watermelon flavor , they certainly did not like it much. They did not care for the gel either which was on the thin and runny side.I was surprised as Colgate has always put out a good product and that is why they have been around for years. I think if they made a watermelon flavor in the regular paste it may be better than mixed with mouthwash. The idea is good but the toothpaste is not and I do not recommend you waste your money on this one. Colgate makes other children's toothpaste which are much better.

Colgate 2 in 1 Toothpate Mouthwash gets my 9 yr old scrubbing!

I'm a mom of three boys and wouldn't you know that all three children like a different type or flavor of toothpaste! Colgate is a wonderful brand that I really do trust. The ingredients are not harmful to my children and they package their products in easy to use, tasty flavors that get my kids brushing! Our family exclusively uses Colgate which surprises me because I grew up on Crest brand toothpastes. What I like about Colgate's 2 in 1 Toothpaste/Mouthwash Watermelon Flavor is MOSTLY the fact that my nine year old USES IT! He likes several types of Colgate Toothpaste but I find that this Watermelon Flavored version seems to get used up the most. I've notice that it is thinner in consistency so it falls off his toothbrush OFTEN, so yes I am cleaning up my counter and sink from the drips and globs morning and night. So maybe this is why I go through it quicker, or it's because he's brushing his teeth more often and for a longer period of time - which really delights me because it used to be a quick 10 seconds on tops and bottoms and then he was done. But with Colgate's Watermelon Flavor Toothpaste he doesn't rush through brushing time. The paste itself is a gel so it's not truly pasty and the flavor doesn't kill his mouth like most minty flavors do! I personally love this style of bottle (the flip top that sits on it's top) but the downside is that he tends to leave the top open and then bottle on it's side, so often times I find the toothpaste oozing out of the bottle. But really that has happened with even the tube style of toothpastes, so that doesn't really bother me more than any other time. I'm not sure that the mouthwash feature of Colgate's Watermelon Toothpaste is at all helpful because this paste is sweet and it tends to leave their breath smelling sweet, not fresh. But shoot, it gets him brushing and keeps him brushing so I'm happy overall with the results: clean teeth that have gotten a dose of fluoride!

My daughters love the Colgate 2 in 1 Watermelon toothpaste!

My children are 3 and a half years apart so they don't always agree on things but they both love this toothpaste. It tastes good which makes them want to brush longer. They have not had any cavities either which is always a good thing! My only problem is that when it is almost empty, it is hard to get the toothpaste out. We turn the bottle upside down and let it sit that way but then it sometimes makes a mess because there is toothpaste in the lid.

Colgate Kids toothpaste is the BEST!

5

This toothpaste is all my two sons will use! The flavor is mouth-watering - so much so that I want to use it myself! When brusing your teeth tastes like dessert, of COURSE the kids want to keep up good oral health! The toothpaste itself is very thick and stays on the toothbrush very well, and foams up nicely to fill the whole mouth.

Thumbs Down for Watermelon Toothpaste

1

My mother-in-law gets lots of things on sale and gives them out to her kids and their families. Recently, she gave us two bottles of this Colgate Watermelon Flavor Toothpaste and Mouthwash for kids. It seemed like a neat product for a preschooler, and I hoped it would encourage better brushing habits. I was wrong. My son does not like this toothpaste (but I make him use it because I can't bear to throw it away). The green gel is not thick enough to stay on top of the toothbrush bristles, instead it soaks into the bristles almost immediately. As for the mouthwash part of the toothpaste, it is severely lacking. Maybe if it was mint instead of watermelon flavor the mouthwash in the toothpaste would freshen breath better. As it is, it doesn't work. My son l about the taste of the watermelon, saying he would prefer mint. I was surprised because I expected this to be kid-friendly. My recommendation is don't buy this toothpaste unless you have a child who really loves watermelon flavoring.

Great taste

I recently purchased this toothpaste for my son on sale.  I would normally stick to the basic flavor and brands for kids but my son spotted the watermelon a mile away and needed it.  He's 4 and has become very independant about brushing his teeth.  He doesn't like to do it and does not like the mint flavors. With the watermelon flavor, he has been taking 10 minutes to brush his teeth because it tastes so good and it's not seen as a negative thing anymore.  This definatly works if you child does not like mint.  I had no idea what a difference it would make to change to a more kid friendly taste that he would like more.  I did buy this on sale but would now spend whatever I needed to in order to get it again.  He loves it and that makes it a great value to me.  Anything that makes my life easier and my child enjoy brushing at bedtime is a quality product in my book. I think every mom should try this!

Colgate's 2-in-1 Watermelon toothpaste gets kids brushing.

My son loves this toothpaste.  Regular toothpaste is obviously too "hot" for him, so he likes this watermelon-flavored toothpaste.  I've also tasted it myself, and it tastes just like liquid candy! That's the only problem I have with this toothpaste, a kid could definitely just drink this if you let them!  Luckily my son never gets into it.  It tastes sweet, but it's not like a thick syrup or anything; it's reasonable for a kids' toothpaste.  The watermelon character on the front is cute, and the squat container with a flip-top open is a nice change from the regular tubed toothpaste. Another great thing about this toothpaste is that it is a 2-in-1 product, with mouthwash included.  I can't really tell the difference between toothpaste with mouthwash included and toothpaste without it, but it makes me feel better thinking that my son is getting a more thorough cleaning when he's brushing his teeth.  I like the packaging, and it's also appealing to kids; which along with the great watermelon taste really comes in handy when trying to get a kid who doesn't want to brush their teeth to cooperate.  I would buy this product again and would recommend it to anyone with kids or anyone who wants toothpaste that tastes like candy!

Great Flavor

I have a very picky child when it comes to toothpaste.I have tried about every toothpaste on the market to meet my youngest childs needs.my child dont like the flavor of toothpaste marketed for adults.I have got her many toothpaste for children with flavors like bubblegum yet she still complains. My child dosent like the thickness of most childrens toothpaste . I seen the Colgate 2 in 1 Toothpaste and Mouthwash Watermelon Flavor and thought I would give it a try.I had not tried Watermelon flavor toothpaste on her .The first night she was reluctant to use it.Once she used it I noticed she didnt make faces and brushed her teeth for a bit longer than normal. My kid loves this toothpaste she said the flavor was yummy and it was not thick like most childrens toothpaste.I also noticed it makes her breath smell alot better than most childrens toothpaste.I would recommend this toothpaste to all parents .I think most children will like it and parents dont have to worry about your childs breath.

Gag, Gag, and Ick

My six yr old daughter convinced me she just "needed" to  have this toothpaste. Normally the whole family uses a minty toothpaste and she said this would be "so much better". She is a fan of watermelon- both real watermelon and the sickenly-sweet watermelon flavoring. I relented because I'm a fan of anything that gets my kids excited about good oral hygene. First of all it is most definately the sickenly-sweet watermelon flavor. Then it is very liquid-y and produces a horrible green mess in my sink each morning. And lastly.... it really, really , really doesn't do anything for improving one's breath. It touts that it is toothpaste and mouthwash in one, but fails to even sweeten one's breath. After yelling at my daughter that she couldn't have brushed her teeth (due to still having morning breath- she is losing her baby teeth and it is RANK what with all those wiggly teeth rotting in her head).and her insisting she did.....I tested this product myself. I gagged, I honestly did. The mouth-feel was horrible, the taste was horrible, it didn't foam at all. It just stayed this watery, slime in my mouth. And it left my mouth feeling dried out but doing nothing to freshen my moring breath (which isn't so great either).Quite possibly the worst product ever invented.
