Having large breed dogs, I am continually on the look-out for products to clean their teeth and strengthen their gums. The Checkup Dental Chews look like a bone but have some great benefits to them; the biggest being curing bad breath. While my dogs do not have a diagnosed gluten allergy, as they get older I do notice that they are scratching more and my veterinarian said that is a possibility. I have to keep checking their skin every couple of days and keeping track of what they are eating. One bone is considered one serving but for medium sized dogs I would only give them half. Unlike other bones these have a break point in the middle. Just apply pressure and snap it in half. There's no crumbling either so it's no where near as messy as a regular bone treat. I store them in a glass jar to keep them fresh but they can be hard to find. When I come across them I usually get two boxes so I don't run out; I am lucky to have a neighbor that has three large breed dogs and they love these dental chews too so she will grab me a box. Aside from them being gluten free these also help to control tartar build-up and plaque. There's no smell or scent to them (which is a good thing) an as mentioned, there's no mess if you break them in to two pieces or when the dogs start chewing on them.

**Checkups Checkups Dental Chews have been a great find for my dogs.  We have some other bones that my dogs love, but it is getting expensive to keep up with them.  I have three small dachshunds that we try to keep up with and finding these has been great.  They come in a decent sized bag and each bone can be large or broken in half.  They break in half very easy too because they are scored in the middle.  Half of a bone is quite enough to keep my three pooches happy.  They are hard and a great alternative to rawhides.  I always fear one of my dogs choking on rawhides, but they love them so much.  But these they have equally grown fond of and these seems to replace the rawhides all together.  They are jumping at my feet to get their treat.  ** **My kids call them the stinky bones, but we laugh about it!!!  They do have an odor when you first open the bag, but the quality of these bones outweights the smell!  They come in a large bag too, which is great because I don't feel like I am constantly going to the store to keep a supply of these.  **
