Great for programmers, but Acer Aspire sucks for regular users
I bought this acer aspire netbook back before it was trendy. Back before it came with windows. I love the size, the portability, and the general appearance, but I hate the operating system. I'm pretty smart and it took hours to look up all the linux codes I needed to change the desktop so that I could have shortcut icons like Windows. Also, you can't install ANYTHING without hours of frustration. Looking for rpm packages, trying to compile from source and even the Yum repository often crap out. If you're an experienced Linux user who doesn't mind the command line interface then I'd reccomend this if you want to save money. Otherwise, cave in and get the windows version. The battery also runs hot on this thing so you need to keep getting books or binders to put under it.
