I bought the Iomega 250GB Prestige USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive when my brand new computer got a virus. I had uploaded the virus onto an online back-up site and downloaded it onto a new computer. As per Dell's suggestion I purchased the device so I could easily just copy and paste data from my old computer to my new new one and so I could have a backup in case of data loss or a virus. The best part is the copy and paste function. Just connect it to a PC with my USB select the data I want save with my mouse, copy it. and then paste it to the iomega external hard drive that appears in "my computer" in my case as the "f" drive. Years later I purchased an Apple laptop and because Apple and Windows (my current Dell PC) are not compatible with moving data from one computer to the next I called Apple for advice on making the process less painful. They were able to show me that I could back up Windows data such as bookmarks, pictures, etc onto my Iomega portable drive, save it there and through a process easily transfer the data int my new Apple laptop. It was simple and took just minutes. Very versatile and still use it as a preference for saving my computer backups.
