More of a Decoration

3

This is probably the lowest rating I have given a product lately. These are very pretty as a decoration, but horrible at keeping plants watered. The problem lies in the design. It takes forever to fill each globe up with water, since the stems are super thin the water just trickles in. Then when you go to insert these into the dirt or soil all that happens is the dirt gets stuck in the end of the tube, so there is no way for the water to get out. This really doesn't work at all, my plants didn't get any water. I kept these to use as a decoration in the pots and my window boxes, but never put in more water, there was no point. I do not recommend these if you want your plants to live.

Not as useful as I was hoping.

I'd seen the advertisements for the Aqua Globes on television for months, I kept wondering if they worked, should I try them.  Last Christmas I spent some of my Christmas money (they are rather inexpensive) to buy two packages (4 Aqua Globes) for all my plants in my house.  I'm a busy mom with two children under three years old and a full-time out of the home job, I was hoping for something to just make my life easier.  I got my Aqua Globes, getting them out of their packages I felt like a kid in a candy store.  I filled them with water and put the first one in the pot, I was so afraid I was going to break it when I pushed it in the soil.  Set-up the other three - I did have to get really creative because the weight of the globe with the water was almost enough to knock over my my potted plants.  When the water finally was gone I pulled them out to refill them - full of dirt.  Had a terrible time trying to refill them because of all the dirt.  Couldn't put them in the same spot I pulled them out because the pot would have tipped over.  I kept thinking if the bulbs were smaller - well since then they have came out with them, but I'm afraid to waste my money again.

Aqua Globes really work and save time and water! Plants love it

Sceptical but hopeful I purchased a 2 pack of these Aqua Globes about 2 years ago. I have them in two of my 6 indoor plants and should probably get more but haven't! They are neat looking glass that add color to exhisting green foilage of my houseplants. I fill them about 1 time a week and my plants have never been more happy. They dont soak my floor or drip, so I don't even need a clear drip plate under my beautiful pots. Easy to fill, insert into plant, and even when the soil seems it is clogging it i just use a wooden skewer to poke it inward, add some water and dump it out. They are very consistant keeping the moisture so even my most fussy tropical plant is loving it and has never been so healthy. Made of glass, after 2 years with 2 kids and 2 dogs I would have thought 1 would break but no. They are more sturdy than they appeared when I first looked at them. We went on vacation for a week and I did not need to have to worry either....my other plants had to visit our neighbor. I guess I really should just buy more.... Thanks to this inventor, I am a happy plant owner and my plants are healthy. Highly recommend them!

Helpful still requires careful monitoring of soil moisture!

These aqua globes can add an additional decorative element to your house plants. However, you still do need to monitor the level of moisture in the soil. In the summer, the aqua globes can empty out in one day. In the winter, the water in the globes may last up to two weeks as advertised. It is extremely important to make sure the soil has been watered adequately before inserting the aqua globe. Then the water in the globe will definitely last longer. Soil does get into the glass tube, but for me this did not effect the ability of the aqua globe to disperse the water. However, when you take the water globe out of the soil to refill, it is necessary to run water into the aqua globe to dislodge the dirt clog into the bulb part of the globe and then shake the dirt out into the sink. Sometime the force of the water  seems to just blow out the dirt, and then refilling is easy with a small stream of water from the faucet! I particularly like these for water loving tropical plants like pothos that don't mind if their soil is damp most of the time. Of course, many plants like succulents, cacti and citrus that don't like constant moisture would not be good aqua globe companions. The multicolor aqua globe is particularly attractive and upstages the plainer colors. Aqua globes are a lovely addition to the indoor garden if they are used responsibly!

Perfect for going out of town

I purchased Aqua Globes to go in several potted Gerbera Daisy's for when I was going out of town for 4 days on a camping trip. When I returned, the water level had fallen in all of the globes and the ones in my lollipop gerbera's were dry. I think globes worked excellent. I had several blooms and healthy vibrant leaves. I didn't find any dry soil or wilted leaves. I attached a photo of one of the blooms waiting for me when I got home. It was on a lollipop gerbera, the center in the shape of a heart! Even the flowers love aqua globes! The lollipop gerberas are quite large, next time I will probably use 2 large globes instead of 1. I now use the globes for decoration or if I have a busy schedule I will fill them with water. I do prefer watering my flowers myself because its something I enjoy doing and I find it to be very relaxing. I plan to be a long time Aqua Globe lover when Im not home to tend to my flowers myself!!

Totally worthless

Thought these would be a great idea, not only for everyday, but for when you aren't going to be home for a few days on a vacation or something.  Well, first they are very difficult to fill.  You have to get just the right trickle of water going so as not to have the water splashing right back out at you.  Also, I have to use the bathtub faucet, as they are too long to fill in a bathroom sink.  So once you get it filled, you put it into the plant and as soon as you turn it over to do so, water shoots out right away, so be prepared to clean up what got on your shelf/carpet/floor/wall.  Now, you think this is going to do the rest of the work, but from my experience, right away it gets clogged by the potting soil.  You have to pull it out of the soil and shake it so that the clog releases and water will come out, but as soon as you put it back, it gets clogged again.  Glass is very delicate and would certainly not be good around children who can reach it.  It is easier and cheaper just to water the old fashioned way.

Aqua Globes tried to murder my tree!

1

I bought a large Norfolk Pine just before Christmas. Because the holidays are hectic and I didn't want to take a chance at the tree not getting enough attention I stopped to look at a box of **Aqua Globes**. Aqua Globes' company claims that they will water your houseplants up to two weeks and are an excellent choice for vacation. It sounded good, it seemed to be what I needed, so I bought a box. The globes are handblown glass and come in red, blue, green and multi-color. I chose green so it would blend in with my tree. When I got home I filled the globes with water. This was no easy feat! The long slender tubes are quite narrow and do not lend themselves to filling. I took both globes and inserted them on opposite sides in the planter so that the tree would be fed evenly. [Before I inserted them I poked the end of a long wooden spoon down into the dirt to make it easier.] I checked the balls every few days to see if they needed refilling. The water level didn't seem changed at all. Finally, I noticed the tree was beginning to show signs of drying out. I hand watered the tree, took out the globes and discovered that the tubes were clogged with dirt from when I had inserted them into the planter. I cleaned the tubes out, drained the globes and re-filled them. I re-inserted the globes into the same holes thinking that they were already dug and maybe that would prevent the tubes from clogging again. I watched and waited once more- no change in the water level. I started to notice the tree was dying at this point. I am trying to feed it and hand water it but I haven't seen a change yet. I hope I can bring it back. **Bottom Line:** The tree never had a chance with Aqua Globes.

Aqua Globes-Don't Work as Advertised! Hard to refill!

1

My son bought some of these new Aqua Globes for Christmas of 2008.  I thought they would be real handy as I have quite a few plants in my house.  We tried them for several months and I was so disappointed in the way they function.  First of all, the dirt gets clogged so the water doesn't come out.  This happens all too easily.  Second of all, when you go to refill them, it takes forever at the faucet.  I saved time watering them the other way.  So, because they pretty, I kept them in the pots for decoration since my son had spent the money.  If you want a pretty decoration I'd get them.  If you want your plants to be watered right I would not count on Aqua Globes to get the job done.  You will be disappointed.  Fortunately, I was able to check on my plants before any of them died that was not getting the water.  I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone as it does not work the way it is advertised.

The Aqua Globes are a wonderful handy tool for any plant lover

Aqua globes live up to their advertisement.  I have 6, 4 large ordered off TV and 2 smaller ones bought at Wal-Mart.  I use every one.  They are especially great for the picky plants like prayer and peace plants.  I have lived in the Central Colorado and West Texas since I bought the Aqua Globes and in this drier climate, they are a must.  My plants that do not have globes, yet, I am watering every day to every other day.  The ones with the globes, I am refilling about every 3-4 weeks depending on the plant.  I don't know about you, but I don't have the time to be watering every day, let alone remember.  And the Aqua globes are really pretty and blend in well with the plants.  I have one that I look at daily, and as it goes down it helps to remind me that it is time to check/fill the other globes.  Since I got them, my Peace plant is fuller, happier, and healthier.  It blooms all the time.  Highly recommend.

Aqua Globes - practicality or looks?

2

Aquaglobe is definitely pretty to look at. I like to color and the marble pattern. But it does not release the water as the soil dries as the commercial says. It all depends on the soil condition. If you have a good soil in the pot, it doesn't get stuck up in the opening of Aqua Globes as much. Therfore, it will keep releasing water. But if you have the dirt like soil that gets clumpy easily when wet, it always get stuck in the opening, and it stops the water release. When releasing the water through the good soil, it doesn't regulate how much water the pot needs. It can keep releasing the water until it empties the Aqua Globe and flood the pot all at once. It is great if you are just getting it for the looks.
