I love both of this brush. I have more than one of each of it and have given them as gifts. Yes, they can and do shed some, but this brush couldn't be any softer. For the overall price you cannot get much better. If you notice a chemical smell, just wash the brush once and you will not have that anymore. I use these with all brands of mineral make up and bronzer as well. It gives amazing coverage, and has been nothing but easy to use! It applies my bronzers and minerals evenly all over.
