Nothing beats a mandoline for cutting uniform slices of fruits & vegetables and the Zyliss Easy Slice Mandoline Safety Rail-Guided Slicer is one of the best! While I have used this slicer in the past for multiple projects -- juilenned vegetables, slicing salami, cutting potatoes, etc. -- I found it simply invaluable this summer while preserving pickles with my mother-in-law. The Zyliss Easy Slice Mandoline transformed slicing pounds and pounds of pickle-cucumbers from a dauting task to a simple process. The slices were uniform & precise and completed without any injury! :) The Zyliss Mandoline comes with six interchange-able blades for various cutting functions. The different blades are simple to install within the slicer body and are clearly labeled in regards to what size/type of cutting function they perform. The guard rail does make the mandoline a bit difficult to manipulate at times but when using sharp kitchen objects, I choose safety over speed and believe the Zyliss Mandoline fits the bill quite well.
