This is definitely one of my favorite cold medications. Whenever I start to feel a cold coming on there are a few different things I do and medications I take to try to ward it off before it gets worse. This is one of my favorites medications for my cold-go-away cocktails. First of all, I love the flavor and actually like taking it compared to normal pills you swallow or strong, gross cold syrups. It doesn't taste like medicine at all. I've also used the Zicam that disintegrates in your mouth. These versions are good because when they are absorbed through your mouth they go straight into your blood stream which makes the effects quicker than a normal pill that you swallow. Congestion Relief When I get colds my congestion is one of the things that bothers me the most so when I'm looking for a medication this needs to be something it can address for me. Zicam helps decongest me quite a bit especially when I take it with a nasal spray. Chest Congestion Relief I don't normally get chest congestion so it is hard to say if it helps or not. Relief of Aches & Pains Another thing I often suffer from that really bothers me with colds is being achy all over and getting sinus headaches, I wouldn't say this works 100% with this medication but it does help some. I usually take Tylenol daily, especially with colds, so in combination with that it does a fantastic job.

It makes several non- habit forming, homeopathic medicines and one of them is **Zircam Cold Remedy Zavors**. **Medicine Commentary:** Zircam Cold Remedy Zavors feature the active ingredients Zincum Aceticum 2x and Zincum Gluconicum 2x, both of which can reduce duration and severity of the common cold. These pills are cherry flavored and are chewable, making them easy to take. Zircam Cold Remedy Zavors help to reduce the severity of cold symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, coughing, and sore throat. I have found that this product is good at lessening the annoyance of congestion more than anything, but it also helps to reduce the severity of sneezing and other symptoms. Zircam has made a name for itself with its lineup of cold control products, each of which claims to reduce symptom severity and cold duration. I agree that the symptoms are reduced, but I cannot necessarily agree with the claim that my cold goes away any faster. The same can be said of most other Zicam products. I have heard others rave that their cold as cut down to a couple of days when they took this product, but my experience hasn't been this positive. ** ** **Bottom Line Viewpoint:** Zircam Cold Remedy Zavors are a good product but not a great one, at least from my perspective. I like what they do to reduce the severity of cold symptoms and I like that they are chewable and so easy to take. I question the claim about cold duration, but this product still has enough going for it to recommend. zicam is a great  invention! As soon as i feel like im getting sick or that first dreadful sneeze i will take one of there many types of zicam that is on the market. This stuff works great and it really does cut the cold in half. There items are very expensive but it really does work.

Finally I have got a cold, and I attribute it to the fact that I ran out of zicam.  I have been taking it faithfully this winter.  Everytime I feel a sniffle or sneeze coming on, I take a zicam.  For awhile I was just taking one every day.  I think it helped me to stay healthy all winter.  It is easy to take and chewable which makes it convenient to take anywhere.  The taste is good (except for the end) which has sort of a bitter taste, but it is tolerable.  I have been so happy with this product and I was disappointed when I ran out, and now to come down with a cold am devastated that I allowed myself to run out of Zicam.  I would recommend it to everyone.  My family swears by it too - I have two girls in college and I gave them each a few boxes to take with them and every time they complained about not feeling well, I would tell them to take a zicam, and they were healthy all winter too.  Since I never had a cold I can't tell you much about how it relieves the symptoms of a cold, but I swear by this product.

Zicam Zavors are my favorite Zicam product.  As with all Zicam cold remedies, Zavors are non-drowsy and kick colds out of your system fast.  Zicam Zavors work best when taken at the first sign of a cold.  After only 3 or 4 tablets, I am already feeling better.  Zicam Zavors allow me to continue doing what I do on a daily basis because they work quickly and are extremely effective.  With a crunchy shell and a liquid center, Zicam Zavors taste great, unlike typical cold remedies.  I can proudly say that Zicam Zavors are the only cold remedy my family uses.  I have tried numerous cold medicines, but nothing beats Zicam.  While it is a little pricey, the extra money is well worth it.  In my opinion, Zicam is the best cold remedy on the market, and I will never again use another product.

My mom raved about Zicam, so I thought I'd try it the next time I got a cold. So a week ago, I got the chance to try it. I had a sore throat which turned into a cough. I think that this product did help with the severity of my cold and make it shorter as well. You spray it in your mouth every few hours, then refrain from eating afterwards. It tastes like mint to start with, but then leaves a very strong metallic aftertaste in your mouth. Which I thought, okay it'll go away when I have a snack. No, my food tasted like metal. Yuck, I guess on the plus side my sense of taste was not impared from the cold, but this really left a taste in my mouth throughout dinner. I don't think I'll buy this again, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone who likes to enjoy their food, but I do think it works. UPDATE: Pretty sure it works, but tastes gross. This stuff is the nastiest tasting medicine I've ever tried, but I buy it all the time.  It works better than any other medicine I've ever used for cough, including prescription medicines.  It is amazing how well it works.  I am kept up every night by a chronic cough, but with two sprays of this, I sleep through the night.  It is awesome, if you can get past the taste...

I guess I associate some tastes/smells with being sick -- Vapo-rub, or menthol eucalyptus cough drops, for example. As a result, their smell makes me violently ill, and I can't tolerate them. The same thing began to happen with zinc lozenges after I had used them a few times, and I had to give them up in spite of the fact that they seemed to help shorten or even abort an oncoming cold.  These chews have proven to be a way around this problem for me. I don't think there's any way to actually make zinc taste good... but the thick candy coating on the outside masks the taste of the zinc almost until you are done chewing. In my experience, they do actually shorten colds or at least make the symptoms less severe -- and if I begin taking them when I notice those first few cold symptoms coming on (that tickly, scratchy throat, for example), sometimes the cold never develops at all. As a result, I always have some on hand at home, in my backpack and in my desk at work. I don't understand the science of how zinc is supposed to help you when you are coming down with a cold. Maybe the effect is entirely psychological. Who cares! For me they are effective, even if they do taste pretty nasty.

Not just for kids, this cough spray is faster, more convenient, less messy, cheaper, and more effective than all the others!  And I like the cherry taste. Why use anything else??? And I've stopped wasting time and money on expensive doctor visits to get a bottle of codeine with them acting like you're a drug abuser to get a little bottle at a high price with bad side effects too! Just one squirt stops the tickle from air-conditioned buildings, and the full amount for full on colds.  They make one "8-Hour" extra strength to last through the night, and one lower dose for 4 hours, for milder urgency.  What's not to like? Their cold-elimination product is great too.
