A Hidden gem

Here is the surprising aspect of this site: I had never heard of the site and stumbled upon it by chance and what so very surprised at what they offered. This is another traveling resource I use when I am planning a trip. Ease of Use I love the site and I love how easy it is to navigate through the site each time that you use it. I have never experienced any issues using the site, which is why I continue to have it on my resource list for traveling. Features This site offers every thing from business trips to ski trips and everything in between. I love every aspect of this site and the obvious effort they put into making it a reputable brand for travelers. They are especially good when it comes to packages involving groups and long term vacation planning. I love the site and what they have to offer. Customer Service They also have an excellent customer service department. They are very prompt and precise when it comes to answering inquiries and questions and even finding you the best deals to fit your budget.

It's gone downhill

3

I used to love the site but then it has gone downhill after kayak bought it. I used to love the flight tracking function because I like to see when is the best time to book a flight. We are a family of 5 and love travelling, so 5 tickets are expensive, and therefore we need to book the cheapest tickets possible. So I used to use the flight price report function and it worked, but somehow doesn't work for my recent flight tracking request. The function is limited - you can only track 1 particular departure, e.g. if you want to track a flight from San Francisco to New York, you do a search, then a lot of departures will pop up, you can only track a particular one, so even though other departures have dropped in price there is no way you'll know unless you track them as well. So I have given up using them because it's great for people who are very particular in which flight they are flying and they don't care about the budget.

Great Idea in Theory, Hope It Grows and Improves

2

I was excited when I heard about Yapta, a site which tracks specific flights for you and lets you know when the price goes up or down. If you've already purchased your ticket, it can help you get refunds when the ticket price drops. Sadly, this site has many limitations. Ease of Use Before you get too excited, be sure to read all the fine print for this site. I think it has a great concept that will really take off...when the flights it offers/covers expand. Yapta uses Kayak's search engine, so if you are accustomed to Kayak, there should be little problem using Yapta. Features Although you can search various airlines and destinations to your heart's content, Yapta only works for a select handful of airlines. I fly internationally more than domestically and rarely use the airlines available on Yapta, so I haven't been able to use Yapta's main feature (getting refunds on flights already bought). The flights that Yapta pulls up tend to be cheaper on other sites, so I see no reason to buy from Yapta if that airline is not one that gives refunds via Yapta's program. I've also compared the flights that come up on Yapta vs. Kayak, and it's interesting that Kayak finds flights that Yapta does not (strange, considering Yapta is powered by Kayak). They are for the same airlines, but for some reason, Yapta will find results for fewer flights. This isn't the greatest if the awesome deal you found on Kayak does not exist for Yapta. Here's hoping they offer their refund policy for more international airlines soon. Customer Service Since I haven't been able to buy anything from this site myself, I haven't had a need for its customer service.

Great website -- and tangible savings

I've been using Yapta for some time now -- and have gotten a few hundred dollars in ticket vouchers as a result.  It's a great service.  While you could hassle the airlines yourself, I find the $15 charge for Yapta to do it almost worth paying.  I'd prefer a lower charge but if you're getting more than $60 back, it's worth it.

Yapta.com saved me so much money!

5

I discovered www.yapta.com through budget travel magazine (highy recommend!) and it has already saved me so much money that I recommended it not only to friends and family, but to my boss as a way to save our company money.  While I initially joined thanks to Budget Travel magazines recommendation that Yapta.com could be used to track airfares and help you with the refund process if the price drops on the ticket you booked (I had NO IDEA that a lot of american airlines have policies that if the ticket price drops for the same trip you booked, you are entitled to a refund on the difference.  Yapta.com monitors your trips and notifies you if the price drops and, for $15, will fill out all the paperwork for your refund, but you can do it yourself for free).  While I haven't had any of my airfares drop yet, I have been able to save a tremendous amount of money on my hotel for my upcoming trip to Vegas.  My hotel initially started at $70/night.  Yapta.com notified me whenever the price dropped and I was able to rebook my stay.  My final cost ended up being $46/night!  Seriously...Yapta.com does all the work and all you have to do is rebook you room to save a ton of money.   It completes my trilogy of travel sites...Kayak.com, tripadvisor.com, and Yapta.com.

How I saved $60.

**To the Point**I just learned about the website www.yapta.com and it worked for us immediately! **A Closer View** It's easy to register at Yapta with very little information. It's a cinch to download their software. Once it's downloaded you'll have the option of telling them the flights you've already booked and they will continue to search to see if the price goes down. If it does you may be eligible for a refund or voucher. You'll have the option of tagging trips for Yapta to find the lowest airfare for you. This is what we used it for and very successfully. Yapta stands for "Your Amazing Personal Travel Assistant". (www.yapta.com). This idea is so simple you'll wonder why you didn't think of it. Actually Ryan Allsop from Washington asked his brother if he knew an easy way to find out when airline fares when down. Brett, his brother, called some friends and worked on this software - thus yapta.com was born. This is my current example: My husband is arriving in Florida on May 5. He, my mom and I want to leave for Boston on May 15. The prices were the highest I've seen them. Granted we're booking one way fares but at $149.50 I decided to wait and see. I then found yapta.com and signed up. In just a few days I got the following e-mail, "Date: Tue, 22 Apr 2008 17:58:25 +0000 Good News! Your trip "5/15-5/15 FLL to BOS (3)" has dropped in price to $129.50. Our records show that you started tracking this ticket at $149.50 per ticket. And since you were watching for 3 travelers, your total trip has dropped by $60.00! If you are ready to buy this flight just go to Trip Details. Remember, once you purchase the ticket we'll keep tracking prices. If the price drops again, we'll let you know how to obtain that refund or voucher!" How cool is this? **Jo's Viewpoint** **I like it!**
