Selective interest
I have been a Y member for several years and on more then one occasion. This last membership, I noticed that the classes are mainly focused on a few groups, daycare, retirees -daytime classes and college students, again daytime classes and high energy classes. Being a middle aged working adult, most of these classes are out of my range, the assumption that instructors are to give modification during the working is almost never. By the time I leave work at 5pm, drive to the Y, find a place to park, and get changed, the extremely few classes that start at 530 are almost over. Sure there are a couple low impact classes that don't accomplish much, (Glenwood Tuesday and Thursday classes) but the majority of the good classes are before 5pm. Myself and a few others who are also no longer members at the y for the same reason, have used the suggestion box and I have sent an email or two....you guessed it, no response at all. This leaves using the equipment as the main reason for using the Y. I decided to drop the high cost of "just using the machines" and go to a gym with completely comparable machines, that is open 24 hours so I can go anything and the staff actually responds to questions and suggestions. Don't throw away your money.
