Cleans good but capacity is low

4

I bought this washing machine a few months ago in replacement to my flood destroyed washing machine. The first thing that I noticed that I like is that its very affordable which is necessary when on a budget. hen putting the washer in place I noticed that the power hook ups are placed very conveniently. The unit though the same square footage as my old unit was lighter and easier to get in place. Once I started washing clothes I noticed the capacity wasn't very large and I had to do more loads with the same amount of laundry in order to finish it. The dials on the control panel are easy to use. Its pretty easy to figure out what you want to do. As a matter of fact when I washed my first load I spent no time trying to figure how how to use it which I like because its so simple to use. Its not the quietest unit though. I keep it in the basement and I can hear it humming away on the second story of my house. I haven't had any problems with the way it cleans laundry which is the most important thing. Overall I think its a great unit for someone on a budget but if you are willing to spend more money you can get a larger capacity, more energy efficient and quieter machine. Energy Efficiency The machine reads that its more energy efficient than my old unit but considering I have to do in 3 loads what I did in 2 before I'm not so sure about that. Cleaning Time This machine is pretty quick compared to what I was used to. Performance It seems to do a great job cleaning. Ease of Use extremely easy to use Design Overall a great design but they could have added more capacity. Durability It seems pretty solid

Great Washer Great Price

Cleans well, large capacity. Energy Efficiency I have no idea the efficiency of this machine. Cleaning Time There are multiple settings for length of wash cycles. I typically use the longest cycle and it's complete before the dryer is done. Performance I've had no trouble out of this machine and owned it for several years. It works well on small loads to full capacity. Ease of Use Self explanatory, not necessary to read owners manual to operate. Design My only complaint is the fabric softener container. It tends to get a residue build up in the release holes and needs to be cleaned more often than I want to do it. Durability I've only owned this a couple years so not sure about longevity but so far so good.

The Whirlpool WTW5200VQ is a great washer for my family!

We bought this washer last year, and I wasn't sure what to expect because of mixed reviews, most people really liked it or they hated it. But, we love it! It is simple to use. I like that it has a compartment just for bleach. It also has a compartment for fabric softener in top of the agitator. And it holds a LOT of clothes. Some people mentioned the adjustable water temperature was giving them trouble, but mine works fine. The agitator works well and makes a lot of bubbles so I feel like it is cleaning my clothes well. I also like that I can easily select an extra rinse when I need to. And the loads are finished in no time. Some also mentioned theirs was noisy, but mine is not that noisy. I feel it was reasonably priced and I am very happy with my purchase!

Seems to do what it's supposed to.

Whirlpool WTW5200VQ washer. Well, I don't know exactly what to say about this washer, exact that it seems to work fine. It's pretty close to the bottom of the line, so there aren't many bells and whistles. We knew that when we bought it, but we just wanted one that had a couple specific features and  would work like it's supposed to. (These days, that's getting harder and harder to find!) It has 3 load levels and we wish it had a smaller setting than it does, because the lowest setting fills the tub about half-way with water, and sometimes that's a lot more than you need. On the other hand it does allow you to use plain cold-out-of-the-tap water, as well as "cool" "warm" and "hot" settings, all of which require, obviously, hot water. And the second rinse is nice to be able to use sometimes when I've been working with things like fiberglass insulation, which gives me the willies and I always like to rinse a second time, just to be sure all the "cooties" are out of the clothes and the machine both. Many people who have this washer complain that it's too loud. I will say that it's louder than our previous washer. And I think that if our laundry room were in the house (instead of the garage) we'd find it objectionable, but I don't really know. One thing we've noticed is that if a load of wash has several pairs of jeans or heavy pants, the machine is much louder than if we're washing things that are more lightweight. It seems to me that means the machine works harder with heavier objects, which would be a good thing. Anyway, this is the first new washer we've had in about 15 years, so we don't have anything new to compare it to, but I would have to agree with people who say it's "louder." (I think some people have also complained about it vibrating too much, but we haven't seen that at all.) There is one quirk that was designed in that caught me by surprise. It's typical that washers won't spin when the lid is open, but every one I've had will agitate with the lid open. And if you wanted to watch it spin, for whatever reason, the switch was right there on top of the machine under the lid. This machine won't even agitate with the lid open, and the switch is hidden where you can't get to it to force it to work with the lid open. I'm sure that's a safety issue, but to me it's a nuisance; if I want to watch the clothes spin, by God, I want to watch the clothes spin! Gotta have something to do for entertainment on those cold rainy winter afternoons! When this machine goes out of warranty, I'll be "fixing" that switch. One thing about this washer is that it's direct-drive (as opposed to belt driven). I've seen a couple places on-line where repairmen said that's a real plus because it makes the washer cheaper to repair. These days, appliances seem to break down right and left, and repairs are NOT cheap! So I asked a repairman why a direct-drive machine is cheaper to repair, and he said, "There are only four parts that usually break down, and I can replace any one of them in 15-20 minutes." The last time I had a repairman out, the total estimate was more than half labor, so that's a very big thing if an appliance is quick to repair. Anyway, the last thing I want to mention is people have complained about the 5300 (This washer is the 5200.) not spinning clothes dry. I will say that this one seems to spin the clothes drier than our old washer. In fact, our only complaint about this washer is the lack of bells and whistles but, as I said, we knew that when we bought it. As far as operation, we've got no complaints at this time. REST ASSURED that if that changes, I'll be back to make an update!

Whirlpool Top Load Washer gets the job done.

I got one of these last year. It is noisy, but I think I have become used to it. My guests definitely notice it. It is easy to function. The cost was not too bad compared to the others. It had a good review online, so I trusted the opinions of other consumers. I usually wash large loads. It dosen't start knocking as bad as some washers I have used. By knocking, I mean the thing washers do when your laundry is uneven and it starts banging back and forth. That is a good way to run down the motor faster than normal. I also talked to a washer and dryer repair guy. He said he didn't have many of these particular type washers brought in for repair. That is always good to hear. He also said that they tend to use less electricity, so I like that. I think the rinse cycle does a better job because my clothes don't irritate me as much. Sometimes if the detergent isn't rinsed out thoroughly, and there's too much in the clothes or towels, your skin may react. I would recommend this product. I have had a good experience with mine so far, and I hope it remains.

This whirlpool washer has been a headache

2

I had purchased this washer in 2009. What a mistake. You name it, it was wrong. I have never seen a washer with so many problems in my life. And Im sure you all know once you leave the store youre pretty much on your own. Once the problems begin, you have to call the service men yourself. And have you ever tried getting these people on the phone to go over your service contract with you? good luck! I had several employees telling me there was no such warranty registered and I had to contact the store where I purchased only to tell me there wasnt a thing they could do, and that I had to call the service men on my own and I could get reimbursed later. Good luck again. Later that year  another part went. The cost of the part was almost a small down pmt on another washing not including the service charge. Gee, whatever happened to the sturdy washers our families from the past had forever? hatever

Excellent Quality For The Price

4

I purchased this washer about one year and have found it to be of high quality especially for the price. I have never had a single issue with its performance or functioning. The only problem that I have ever had is when i first installed the unit I did not secure the drainage hose in the line leaving the house and ended up with some water on the floor in the kitchen. What can I say, it was the first time I had purchased and installed a washing machine in my home. It has performed flawlessly during the time I have owned it and have been very pleased overall. I purchased it at a local big box store and was even pleased with their service suprisingly. I would definately recommend this product to a friend to purchase. When I first started lookonk for a washer and dry se, my main concern was price above all, not having a large amount of cash to throw at them. I also bought the matching dryer and have been very please with it as well.

Makes too much noise that you think it might be broken.

We bought this washer because our last was a Whirlpool. Our previous one lasted 24 years without hardly a repair, it had the big tub inside that's not made any longer.  So, naturally we wanted another Whirlpool washer.  Our new one which is only a few years old, runs like there is something wrong with it even though nothing is.  Needless to say I will not purchase such cheap quality machines in the near future!

I love my whirlpool washer

4

I bought my whirpool washer about 6 months ago. So far it has been wonderful. I like how quiet it is. It is in my hallway right off the kitchen and it doesn't make much noise at all. I live in a mobile home and unfortunately they usually don't have a laundry room they all mostly in the hallways and so that means you must find a quiet one.  The only noise I hear from it is when it goes into the spin cycle.  But then you don't hear much noise from it.  It seems to get my clothes much cleaner than my last washer and the wash time was almost cut in half.  Which is great.  It is very simple to work and it has a lot of different settings you can use.  I hope it lasts me for a long time.  I am sure it will whirlpools seem to do so anyway.  I have had other appliances from the whirpool brand and they were great this was my first whirlpool washing machine though.  But I am really condident with their brand.  I also have the matching dryer and it is great as well.
