Get squeaky clean dishes when you put them in clean!
This dishwasher will clean and sanitize your dirty dishes, but I must clarify the word "Drity." If you put dry pasta sauce, a bit of maple syrup, yesterdays coffee cup, some caked on cat food, or just some bread crumbs in this dishwasher do not expect them to be gone when you open it up. In fact they will likely be right where you left them with some added scum to go along with it. I have to use a Jet-Dry type product to even hope that my dishes will come out clean, and oh yes, I practically have to put them in clean. I honestly soak, rinse, and brush any and all debris that may be clinging to my dishes and cups away before placing them in this dishwasher. Otherwise they come out worse than when they went in. I also had to switch from powdered dish detergent to using a generous amount of liquid soap since the powder was not dissolving all the way and I would find chunks of it stuck to the dishes and the inside of the dishwasher. The cycle lasts approximately 2 hours, the first hour is the cleaning part and the second is the drying. There is an option to use air dry rather than heat dry, so I do that and try to save some money on my electric bills; that is probably the only positive thing I have to say about this dishwasher. I know they all get less effective as the years go by, but this is pretty sad, even after cleaning with a commercial dishwasher cleaner and constant use of jet dry with liquid detergent on practically clean dishes, I get scum. The inside is satisfactory with enough room on top for most of my mugs and glasses, i can put some bowls up there too when the bottom fills up. The lower rack has the utensil basket smack in the center leaving awkward spaces surrounding it, you can get maybe 8 full sized plates to fit, the rest will have to wait for the next load (or heck do them by hand). I do not recommend this unit, look elsewhere.
