For anyone that has a lot of movies, videos and pictures on an external hard drive or thumb drive then this media player will work well for you. It pretty much plays most of the mainstream formats. I purchased a refurbished unit and it has treated me well. There were however some cases where the unit would not play. I couldn't figure out what the problem was but would later come back and it would play again. I can't say for sure if it has anything to do with the fact that it was a refurbished unit but when it works it just works. Another downside is that the remote is tiny. I guess I don't really expect it to have a big remote with a ton of buttons on it but because the remote is so small it is very easy to lose or misplace. Also, if you lose the remote then you cannot watch anything as the remote is the only way to control the device. Its not a bad device. It is a decent solution until you decide to get a PS3. The PS3 can do everything this can do and does it better. I still have mine but it has been replaced by my PS3.
