West Bend Kettle Krazy Popcorn Popper and Nut Roaster

Summary

Ideal for anyone who loves to curl up with a bowl of popcorn and watch movies, this electric popper quickly pops up to 6-quarts of fresh, hot popcorn in minutes. The versatile appliance can also be used to make up to 3 cups of mall-kiosk-style glazed nuts or roasted nuts to serve to friends on poker night or when watching the big game. Simply turn the control knob from "off" to "popcorn" or "nuts", depending on the task at hand. The unit's motorized stir rod and nonstick temperature-controlled heating plate work together to keep the kernels or nuts in constant motion and evenly heated for thoroughly roasted nuts or perfectly popped popcorn (with very few unpopped kernels). Even more, the machine's see-through lid doubles as a 6-quart (24-cup) popcorn bowl. Simply pop, flip, and serve. Extended stay-cool handles assist with flipping the base and lid when emptying popcorn into the bowl. With its sleek, curvy design, the popcorn popper and nut roaster measures approximately 12 by 15 by 9-1/2 inches.

Good but slow popper

I bought this because i wanted a popcorn machine so half the popcorn doesnt burn and i was told that the just tastes different. So i decided to give this a try, and liked it. I got it at a good price online. You need a stove, but on the same hand its portable. Lastly it pops popcorn for maybe one or two people. Performance Its good, way better than poping in sand. As long as you have a good stove. Usually doesnt burn the popcorn but always to carefull (You can see the popcorn popping) Settings/Features Its good, i mean there not really much to set unlike many other popcorn poppers. Ease of Cleaning Cleaning it might take a while. It usually gets greasy if you use oil, and i'm afraid ill break it. Ease of Use One pro about this is that, its easy to use if you have a stove. You should place it on the big burner and not cook anything on the stove. Durability I can say much since i have only had it for about a year, but so far so good. I have a slight crack but it doesnt really make a difference.

Easy and Delicious Popcorn with West Bend!

4

The West Bend Popcorn Maker is really easy to use and makes incredibly tasty popcorn. I love that you just add a little oil (however much you like), dump in some kernals, and let the machine go to work. My daughter loves to watch the kernals pop and my dog runs to hide as the popping sounds begin! It is entertaining to watch, and then delicious to eat. We usually add a little bit of salt when the popcorn is done, or sometimes a little bit of cheese flavoring. It is handy to have the top portion flip over into a bowl, though we typically portion it out into smaller bowls for everyone to enjoy on their own. We love making popcorn to enjoy during family movie night...it adds a bit of movie theater fun to an evening at home. Homemade popcorn is easy, and cheaper than buying the microwave popcorn bags. Plus, it's fun to watch the corn come to life! If you're in the market for a new popcorn machine, take a look at this one...you won't be disappointed!

I got burnt

1

I purchased one of these a few weeks ago. The rotating mechanism was defective so I returned it. I also noticed that the lid did not fit properly and I was worried about escaping hot oil so I called the manufacturer to ask about it. I was told that if you use it "exactly" as described in the instructions you shouldn't get burned. So, I ordered another one. Guess what? Hot oil splatters out from the ill-fitting lid and burns your hand. There is no way around it. You have to eventually use your hands to remove the lid when the popper stops popping. I have several splatter burns on my hands and decided it is not worth it. We really like making our own popcorn, but this has to go back. We really liked our old Stir Crazy, but the lid cracked and we couldn't get a replacement. I will now be searching for another brand.

West Bend is awesome

As far as popcorn makers go i've had a great time with this one and the amount of popcorn it can make is a decent amount. One of my favorite thins about this is it tends to actually cook all the kernels so you shouldnt get many left laying around the bottom of the bowl and that is a great thing for me as I normally don't notice and take a bite of one just to hurt my teeth. This popcorn makers comes with a little recipe book to get you started with some fun little popcorn treats and as always I expect you can search the internet for other ones people have found/done. As always be careful with handeling as it gets hoe due to the steam and you can burn yourself. Just make sure you/your kids takes proper caution when making popcorn and taking it out.

West Bend Popcorn Maker

Being a big fan of popcorn, especially "homemade" popcorn I am happy to give a five-star rating to the West Bend Krazy Kettle Popcorn Popper. This popper is well made and efficient.  The stirring arm is sturdy and works to keep the heat, butter and oil even in the popper.  The popcorn comes out fresh and fluffy with little-to-no kernels remaining in the popper.  The lid doubles as a bowl for the popcorn but can leave the popcorn soggy from the condensation that is built up during the cooking process.  I generally put the popcorn in a separate bowl and let it cool for a minute to allow for fresh, fluffy, delicious popcorn. WARNING:  Be careful when flipping over the popper when the popping has been completed.  The steam from the popper can burn your fingers if you are not careful.  Also be sure to listen for the popcorn to stop popping and not rely on the timer. This popper also comes with a fun little recipe book of different popcorn treats.  ENJOY!

Great corn popper buy

The Westbend Kettle Crazy is a great little popcorn popper. The popper heats quickly and evenly. The stirring arm is sturdy and does an excellent job of keeping the heat even throughout all the kernels. Kernels pop up fluffy and completely. I never have more than a dozen unpopped kernels. The lid of the Kettle Crazy doubles as a bowl. I do dump the popcorn from the lid into a separate bowl. The condensation on the inside of the lid reults in soggy popcorn if you use the lid as a bowl. Clean up is easy. Wash the stirring arm and the lid with hot soapy water. Use a soapy dishcloth to wipe out the bottom of the popper, and then wipe with clean water. Directions that come with the Kettle Crazy give excellent results. Using oil and adding a couple of tablespoons of butter seems to make the best popcorn. I have not tried the nut roasting feature. Look forward to that possibility in the future. I would recommend the Kettle Crazy.

Love that Kettle Krazy makes both popcorn & nuts

5

My husband received the West Bend Kettle Krazy Popcorn Maker as a Christmas gift so I can not comment on the price. (However the people who gave it to him are known to be very thrifty, so I am sure that you can find this popcorn maker for a great deal if you are willing to look.) We have used this machine to make both popcorn and candied nuts (I think that you can use it to roast nuts as well). I personally prefer air popped popcorn, but this machine makes great popcorn with oil. My husband was especially excited about the fact that it makes candied nuts. There is a special setting just for nuts that cooks them at a lower temperature. You don't use the lid when making those. We made spiced pecans and they turned out wonderfully. He also tried peanuts but it seemed to turn more into a peanut brittle than actual coated peanuts. Maybe they should have been cooked longer. Anyway it's a cool machine. I like that it makes more than just popcorn. And I especially appreciate how easy it is to clean.

Kettle Krazy Popcorn Popper and Nut Roaster is WONDERFUL!

5

We have owned our Kettle Krazy Popcorn Popper and Nut Roaster for about a year now. I have nothing but great things to say about it! It will pop up to 6 quarts of popcorn or roast 3 cups of nuts at one time. This makes it great for families or individuals since you can do any amount you desire at one time. It is so easy to use! You just add a bit of oil and your popcorn, turn it on, and in a few minutes you have a nice hot batch of freshly popped popcorn all ready for you! The popcorn always turns out great and it typically pops nearly all of the kernels. It is very easy to clean with its non-stick surface. If you want to roast nuts, you just flip the switch to the nut roasting side and in just about 5 minutes, you have perfect hot roasted nuts. They turn out great, too!It has been a very durable product and has been simple to use. We use it as often as a couple of times per week and always have great results! It still runs like new and shows very little, if any signs of wear. This is a great way to get away from microwave popcorn and enjoy better tasting, better for you popcorn in your home. There are so many different recipes and things you can follow to come up with any kind of popcorn or roasted nut you can imagine. Definitely earns 5 stars from me!
