Very Bad! Stay Away!

1

I had been a member of Webshots for over 10 years. I ranted and raved how great Webshots is, how easy it was to upload and share images. Now I just found out they went and changed over to Smile and deleted all of my 10+ years of images. They claim they sent out numerous emails stating this was going to happen, but I had never received 1 email from them, the last email I have from them is in September of 2012. I have a specific folder within my email for Webshots so I can track my statistics that they send out via email. I now have lost soo many memories from over the years, I can definitely say disaster. When I emailed them, they proceeded to tell me that they sent out notifications to download and save images and if we didn't they would be deleted, then the guy had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to sign up for their new site called Smile. Will never recommend Webshots again. Aggravated, Disappointed, and Upset Past Customer.

Gorgeous pictures at Webshots.com!

Webshots.com is an excellent place to get beautiful pictures.  You can use the pictures as your desktop background, screensavers, or even print and frame them.  There is a very large variety of styles of pictures, subject matter, and types of photography.  They range from professional photographs to those uploaded by amateur photographers and everyday folks too.  I would recommend this site if you are looking for art or pictures for greeting cards, framing, or projects.  I usually get several Christmas photos from webshots and put them together to serve as a screensaver during the holidays.  I have also used pictures of my favorite nature scenes, and printed them for keepsakes and crafting.  The website is fairly easy to navigate, and the program is easily downloaded to your computer.  You can set it up so that you get daily photos, reminders, notifications of new photos and collections, and more.  Overall a great site!

WORST experience ever with print ordering!!

1

This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a company. I spent a lot of time preparing my order back in November, and didn't have any issues with placing the order. A little while later, I received 2 emails saying my order was delayed. I waited through the holidays, giving you the benefit of the doubt, but never heard anything again.I just called your support line, and the person I talked to looked into it and said, 'did you delete your pictures from the website?' I told her I haven't been on the site since I placed the order. She said that sometimes that happens and your system deletes people's pictures. Then she said she would see what else she could figure out, and she's had me on hold now for more than minutes (10 minutes when I started this email).I will never utilize your service again. I believe this is a horrible way to run a business, and I don't want anyone else to experience a loss like this.

Webshots, best pics I've seen.

I use webshots on my computer for many different reasons.  They have background pictures for your desk top as well as for screen savers.  I would recommend this site to anyone that uses a computer whether they are novices to it or are experts.  You can find anything you are looking for

Great Wallpaper, some drawbacks

4

I have been a WEBSHOTS member since 1999, when Photopoint went out of business.  I have had a premium membership about 3 of those years.  The things about Webshots that I LOVe, is that I can use it as wallpaper, and use my own shots.  It is also VERY easy to share the link to my picutures with friends and family, as long as I keep the albums public.  That is where I HAD a BIG problem.  I love taking pictures of my daughters and their activities (sports and dances) (especially when they were in middle school and high school).  I was APPAULED to find that my pictures of my daughters were STOLEN from my site and used on some sick perverts sites.  Pictures of middle school cheerleading were taken, and vacation shots of my daughters were taken.  Fortuantely, there is a great world of people that know my work and would inform me of such activites. I was also sickened by the comments that some people made in reference to my daughters.  I shut my site down for about 3 years, and now have returned.  Webshots NEVER responded to any of the many complaints I had.  So, I have learned  not to "overshare".  I do love the site, and love some of the awesome pictures from around the world that can be found on their sight.

Webshots and I have a love-hate relationship

When I decided to stop having my own website (to save money) I had to find a place to share my photos.  My family has come to rely on me for an easy way to get family photos from each occasion because on my website it was super easy to access.  So I went on a search and thought FOR SURE webshots would be the place.  Webshots has a lot of great features for a free site, but it still has it's issue. **The Good**The best thing about weshots is that you can download FULL SIZED photos!  So if you want a place to store your photos for backup, Webshots is the only site I've found that does let you download the full sized original FOR FREE.  Most sites out there shrink the photos and make you purchase prints in order to get the photo back in any good quality.  A few other sites don't shrink them that much, but they still shrink them a little bit making it so you would never get to the full sized photo again. Webshots allows you to make private albums.  My plan was to share these albums with family through links so that they could access but no one else could.  We value our photo privacy.  Webshots is unlimited, basically.  They give their free members so many photo slots when they sign up, but then you get 100 more each month.  I've been a member for so long that I can't remember how much I started with, but I have space for 3900.  Webshots DOES NOT base your limits on the size of the photos. It is purely based on count.  This is awesome as other sites (such as Google's Picasa) base it on Gigabytes  so you can run out of space much quicker there. Finally, Webshots also let's you join to download from their many photos throughout the site, or just to browse.  I generally browse other photos when I'm interested in a place I'm traveling too.  I've never downloaded anyone else's photos but I believe there is a charge for that.  I use the site to see my own pics basically :)  By the way, you don't have to download software unless you want to.  For sharing photos alone, you don't need it. **The Bad**The reason Webshots is NOT the place I share my photos with family is two-fold.  One, I found out they can't download the full sized pics unless they sign up!  I was trying to avoid making them all create an account so that doesn't work.  They want to be able to download the full-sized photos so they can get prints or play with them in photo editing. The second reason is that the way webshots works, you need to send each and every private album to people for them to see it.  So they can't just enter one link and see ALL my private photos.  That would be something I have to manipulate if I wanted itt o work the way I planned on using it. **So I still use it but not for sharing.**  Instead Webshots has become my third backup for photos.  I burn all my photos on CD, backup that CD on another CD, and then back them up on Webshots.  I figure it is easy for ME personally to access and download my private photos, so it's a good way to make sure I have backups.  I also use it to share some public photos after vacations and such just because it is so user friendly. Lesson: If you want to share private photos or want people to be able to download, Webshots makes it tough.  However if you want to share Public photos, it's easy on Webshots.  Enjoy!! PS: You can also share Videos but I don't because 50% of the time I upload a photo that is well within the limits and I get a video error as if it's too large or too long.  I ended up always having to edit my videos before posting them so I gave up on that.

My Desktop Wouldn't Be Complete Without It

There are plenty of places online to store and share photos, and to order the pictures you took at Aunt Aggie's 70th birthday party.  There are also online websites that allow you to purchase professional photography and large scale art prints.  In my mind, **Webshots** provides the best resource for enjoying the greatest variety of photos (and videos) from pros and novices alike. Webshots has both free and premium memberships.  I am signed up for a free membership, and it gives me everything I'm looking for.  My primary reason for signing up was that I wanted the ability to download lots of pictures to use for my computer's wallpaper and screensaver.  With a website containing more than 520 million pictures--and counting!--I knew that I would never run out of photos to download. Once I signed up for the service, I downloaded the Webshots program file and installed it on my system.  It's a straightforward program that is easy to use and which works in sync with the online website.  Photos are easy to find because they are categorized in albums.  I'm mostly interested in flowers, gardens, and cats, but that is only a fraction of the categories available.  Whatever your interest, you are likely to find a category of professional or amateur photos that will look great splashed on your PC screen.  The free membership is quite beneficial; still there are features that are only available with the Premium service.  For instance, only Premium members can download an unlimited number of professional photos; otherwise you are limited to 5 per day.  However, many of the so-called amateur photos are equally as nice and there is no limit to how many of those you can download. Overall, Webshots is a great service that makes it easy - and free - to display beautiful pictures on your computer.

Love beautiful desktops pics on your computer?

For those of you who don't know about a great website called Webshots, this review will be for you.  If you are like me, and you like to change your desktop pictures. Go to this fantastic site! It is free and you also can upgrade to a paid membership to get even cooler pics. You need to download their Webshots organizer to store and even change the pics you download, all free! They also have screen savers and themes if you are in to that. I just like the great wallpaper! And of course it is all safe for your system too. No Mal-ware, spy-ware, etc. They have a browse feature where you can find pictures that interest you. Let's say you like castles, search and find, download. Or sunsets, search and find, download. I like the Digital Planets and Digital Art section. There you can find almost countless cool images that are truly creative and beautiful too. I have gotten so many complements by my friends when they see my desktop wallpaper. You will too! I have been a member there for many years and I love this fun, free, and cool website. I have at times spent hours looking at  and downloading their great images! You can also upload your own artwork or pictures for other members to enjoy. Go there join for free or upgrade to the paid membership. but in my opinion the free membership is all you need. There are so many to choose from, you will have no trouble developing a great collection on your very first visit! Go there now, join, browse, download and enjoy!!!

Best Online Photo Sharing/Oranizing Site & More

5

Webshots is the best online photo organizing/sharing site I have used, and you don't have to sign up for a "pro" version in order to keep your online photos with good quality to them forever.  It is a great place to find other amateur photographers and to form online community with them, exchanging tips and ideas. There is a blog with a weekly "challenge" to get your creative photography juices flowing. It includes downloading software which allows for you to save and organize your photos on your computer, and to upload and download whatever photos you want, into however many albums you want. You are able (with the free version) to download multiple photos a day from amateur or professional shots, which then can be used as your screensavers, in a slideshow format. I have been using Webshots for years for this screensaver feature only (and have always recieved compliments on my computer, not a common thing!). After becoming disappointed in Flickr, I ended up switching over to Webshots for my online photo sharing, and desktop photo organizing as well.  You get alerts each week when your friends and favorites upload new pictures, or when someone has downloaded or commented on your photos, something that happens far more often than on other sites I've used, due to it community nature. However you still have the ability to keep whatever photos private that you want, and to share them only with those you want.
