When I first purchased the straightener I absolutely loved it. I felt it worked very well in the beginning. It straightened with little effort. It also stayed hot during the process. I would spend maybe ten minutes straightening my hair. After a year of using it though, I felt like it did not work as well. It would not stay hot. It would take twice as long to straighten my hair as well. I started spending between twenty plus minutes straightening my hair. The quality of the product really decreased in my opinion. I would invest in a different straightener if you are going to use it on a regular basis. I would spend a little more money in order to get a better quality straightener. This straightener is average at best. I would not recommend it to others. Effectiveness Over time it loses its effectiveness. I was highly disappointed. Durability It is durable. I have dropped it several times and it continues to work. I think the lack of quality came in the heating plate.

The vidal sassoon gold straightener is lined with gold plating and effectively staightens even the most unruly hair. It doesnt take long to warm up, and when it is ready, it can straighten multiple strains of hair at a time. It has 20 heating settings which allows you to choose the intensity at which you would want to straighten the hair. When using the product, i find that it is very effective and it doesnt take long to work. Unlike other straighteners, one need not stay on one point of the hair in order for the heat to take into effect. The vidal sassoon straigtener is also lighter than many others and is easy to carry. The cord is of good lengh and can allow great motility when straightening the hair. The effects of the straightener also does not wear out that quickly, and has a good lasting effect. Like other straighteners however, the vidal sassoon gold can't help but damage the hair. With the use of heat, the hair is bound to get split ends and dry out. Nevertheless, i like the quality of the vidal sassoon gold series for the price, which is pretty cheap for a straightener. Therefore, the product is great for the price.

My hair is kind of odd in that it has two waves- one at ear level and the other just past my shoulders.  I know, it is sort of odd looking.  This means that if my hair is down, I have to straighten it.  Everyday!!!  The feature on this product that really saves my hair from unneccessary damage is that it has twenty different heat settings.  I usually keep my on a twelve to keep the thermal damage to a minimum.  This is the perfect setting for my medium thickness hair because I can still straighten it in one pass, maybe two.  The last time I went to get my hair cut, my stylist didn't believe that I heat treated my hair everyday. Fewer strokes per lock of hair makes straightening hair so much faster.  And less time is so much better!  I have a one year old little boy, so I don't have much time to get beautiful looking in the morning. I guess last of all, this straightener is great because it lasts.  I've had mine for 8 years!!!
