We had major ice dam damage to our home this past winter (lived in a hotel with 2 teens, 2 large dogs and my husband for nearly 4.5 months). Vermont mutual was fair, responsive and paid 100% of what our policy said was covered. I could not have asked for more. I've heard nightmarish stories from friends about not being paid for claims (or being paid one year later after a lot of badgering). I gotta' say it...Vermont Mutual is a great, well run, honest company. Just an FYI, I hired a General Contractor that did almost exclusively insurance claim work. He negotiated with the insurance company before the work was done. This worked out well for everyone involved and certainly reduced our stress in what could have been over-the-top stress.
