If you drink wine on a regular basis but not often enough to finish a bottle every few days you are going to need to have a way to seal the bottle. In the past I would fight with the original cork to try to get it back into the neck of the bottle and most of the time that resulted in small pieces of the cork landing in the wine. The Concerto is a three piece set; the main plunger that removes the air from the bottle and two rubber corks. The corks have a one way valve flap; when the plunger is placed over it and pumped it pulls the air out of the bottle to preserve the integrity of the wine. It is easy to use and the rubber corks can last for years depending on how much you use them. The corks can be purchased independently from the VacuVin wine saver sets so there's no need to buy another plunger unless it's showing signs of wear. I can taste a huge difference in the wine when I used the wine saver pump and when I don't. VacuVin has several different wine saver products that are comparable to the Concerto so if this is a little more than what you want to spend on a wine pump there are other options. When I am looking for a unique gift for my wine drinking friends, I always poke around in their kitchen to see what type of wine pump they are using. If it looks like it is still in good shape I'll get them some replacement corks but if it looks like it's seen better days I will get them the Concerto so they can replace the pump and the corks at the same time.

The VacuVin wine saver has a vaccum top that sucks out air to prevent oxygen from damaging the quality of the wine and making it deteriorate.  I got the saver for a good price and have saved a great deal of money, over the price of the wine saver, in wine that I have not had to poor down the drain.  I found that I Was limiting myself to grocery store minibottles just to prevent having to throw wine down the drain. I can now choose from a much wider variety.  I also think that this gift is the perfect gift for the person who has everything.  I would not get it for someone who has ncie wine stoppers and likes the look of them.  These stoppers, because of the vacuum seal, are not attractice and are rather large.  I do have to elave my wine out on the counter because with teh stopper in it it is too tall to place on most kitchen shelves.  The stopper does not work with smaller than normal size bottles like some cooking wines.

I puchased the Vacuvin wine saver set at the recommendation of the salesman in the local wine shop that I frequently purchase my favorite bottles of Chianti at.  He identified this particular manufacturer as a quality manufacturer for this type of vacuum sealing product. This is very easy to use and performs without fail for me each and every time.  I am sure the suctioning is a hundred percent because I store my opened bottles horizontally in my wine refrigerator with the vacuum sealer tip in place.  I have never had a drip or a leak at all. As far as keeping the wine fresh tasting, the vacuuming of the bottle really does make a difference in my opinion.  I recently opened a bottle that I didnt realize I had stored for several MONTHS  yes months   and the taste was still fantastic.  That wine would have been vinegar had I not used teh VacuVin sealer.  Last think is that I like that I can put the sealing pieces into the dishwasher and have not had any problems with their seal at all. I highly recommend every household gets one.

Great piece of equipment! This wine opener made it really simple to achieve what we all wanted, (that bottle to be open)! It takes me several years to make a good bottle of wine here at Villa Milagro Vineyards.  From pruning in the spring to tending, fertilizing and irrigating, through harvest and finally to fermenting and aging, wine making is an art form, a science and a huge commitment. A well meaning wine drinker can destroy all my hard work in just a few days if they fail to store opened wine properly.  Air is the winemaker's and the wine drinker's enemy.   When making wine, too much air can create off flavors and off colors.  After opening a bottle, too much air can cause the same havoc on an otherwise delightful wine. Until the VacuVin.  Brilliant!  A few pumps and my wines are safe for you to continue enjoying until the very last drop.  For a small investment in this clever device, you can protect your wines.  Life is too short to waste food wine.

using the vacuvin is a great way to prolonge the freshness of an oppened bottle of wine. freshness lasts longer when all the air is vacumed out with the vacuvin.......very easy to use. I've been using a similiar product for over two years now and definetly notice the difference.  With many times of just wanting a single cup of wine for the evening I would be left with unused and sour wine days later, basically losing  freshness shortly after opening the bottle. Rather then waste a good bottle of wine and money I say its wise to make a small investment to insure freshness and logevity of a good bottle of wine.....Enjoy

This is a very handy gadget to have around the house.  I am a wine drinker and my husband pefers beer.  I stopped drinking wine because I did not want to let 1/2 a bottle go to waste until I found the Vacu Vin.  Now I open a bottle and have a glass or two and then use the vacu vin to re-seal the bottle.  A week later I can have another glass and the wine is still good.  I have never kept an open bottle for more then 2 weeks, (having a glass on three seperate nights).  There was definitely a decrease in the quality of the wine, but it was stil drinkable and enjoyable. I have been so happy with my vacu vin that I bought one for each of my family members for Christmas!
