HomeAway is self-destructing. Their latest business plan is just plain stupid and further compounds their declining popularity. As a customer of theirs for almost two decades, they removed one of our annual PAID subscription listings {with no warning} several days ago because we had included our Web site link on it. This was perfectly acceptable {and encouraged} months ago when we renewed the listing. We immediately deleted the link {which THEY could have easily done}, but they refuse to reinstate the listing after several requests. Therefore, we {of course} contacted our credit card company yesterday and disputed the charge. We are now voluntarily deactivating ALL of our property listings with them. Most of our current inquiries come from Airbnb, etc., anyway, that don't have a history of their online payment system getting hacked like HomeAway {Google it}. We property owners need to revolt and boycott HomeAway's virtual monopoly of the vacation rental industry. Let's immediately transfer all our advertising dollars to other sites that actually have "customer service", and that don't force their loyal owners to use an unpopular/unsafe/expensive/confusing payment method! Also, we need to utilize social media every chance we get to comment about this.

Features Took away features I used and added stuff I don't use Customer Service After waiting for ever on hold person on phone doesn't understand the problem and can't correct it.

My husband and I decided at the last minute to get away for the weekend. We had nothing planned and didn't know where to start. While searching around the web for deals, I ran across the VacationRentals.com site. I was amazed at how easy the site was to use. I like that the site has lots of great features, including last minute deals. With the site, I was able to find a great log cabin at an awesome price. The customer service on the site was more than helpful. With the help of one of the representatives, I was able to get a great package deal on lodging and entertainment. When we arrived at our cabin, it was everything as described on the site. I will most definitely be using VacationRentals.com in the future. I would like to recommend this site to everyone, whether you are traveling on a budget or not. You will be more than happy with the accommodations that you will receive.

I've used VacationRentals.com to find beach houses for my extended family. I like that the site allows you to first find beach houses by picking a location, price, bedrooms AND/OR other amenities like a pool. The site seems to have lots of rentals listed in virtually all popular vacation locations. They include rentals owned by private owners, so there are a lot of houses to pick from. If you are planning a vacation, check here to see if a house might meet your needs better than a hotel. They have condos with lots of amenities. Once you've found a property, you can get a really good idea of what the house will be like because most houses post MANY photos--of the living areas, kitchens, decks, and the view. Most properties seem to post a photo of each bedroom, so you can plan ahead. If there are only a few photos posted or some key areas of the house are not included, assume that those areas are not ideal. For example, if there is no photo of the beach view---there probably isn't one. Ease of Use It is very easy to search for and find rentals. You can even compare properties. You can also send links to specific properties if, for example, you want others to review a rental option. Features I love reading user reviews and the site does include a location for reviews, but I've found that there are not many reviews that have been posted---at least not for the houses I've been looking at.

We haven't had the time nor the money to vacation like we used to but I had made up my mind that I would find a way to still take my family on vacation and save a little money. My toddlers had never seen the ocean but I knew vacations to the beach are expensive. I visited a number of online booking sites and ran across VacationRentals.com. This website is different from other sites because you are able to talk and make a deal with the actual owner of the property. I checked into Wilmington, NC on the Atlantic Coast in search of renting a condo or house for a few nights on the ocean for my family to enjoy. I was able to see the rates, pictures of the property, plus contact the owner directly to see what we could work out. I personally contacted 5 different owners, and was able to get a lower rate that fit my budget. I then put a percentage down for the oceanfront house, and then paid it off when we took the vacation. I have to say I was worried about the honesty of the owners because I had read that some aren't so honest about the rental property but in my case everything went as planned and my girls had the best vacation because of VacationRentals.com. I like that I am in direct contact with the homeowner, not a 3rd party person, and I was able to make an arrangement with price which I can't do anywhere else. I have only used this site one time but since I had a good experience I will try it again on the next vacation if we stay in a condo or home.

This website is great if you are looking for a place to stay outside of your major hotel chains. My husband and I found a really cute and nice condo to stay in on our trip to Hilton Head using this website. The website allows you to search about any location your can imagine. My favorite feature allows you to click on the state you want to visit and then lists about every city in that state. From there, you can browse multiple listings. These are places owners rent out to travelers. You will find a lot of cabins, cottages, and condos on the website. We had a great experience with the condo we rented in Hilton Head. It was exactly as listed and very nice. We had no problems booking through this site and had a great experience. I would highly recommend using this website. I know we will use it when we travel again. Ease of Use I think it is incredibly easy to use. Once you know where you want to go, it will pull up a ton of options for you to browse through. Features It has a lot of great features. If you really take your time, you can find a ton of great deals on there. Customer Service We had no problems with customer service while using this website.

Renting a house or condo is often a much more affordable option when traveling, especially if you are traveling as a family or larger group, or staying for a week or more. Staying in a home or condo also offers unique experiences over staying at a hotel. You will usually have multiple bedrooms, but will be able to enjoy a shared kitchen and living room area. You can also search for different options that you would like to have in your rental, such as a pool, hot tub, entertainment activities and equipment, and also number of bedrooms and bathrooms. You can also locate homes or condos that offer certain things like a nursery, bunk beds or kids rooms, as well as things like a garage, or a pool table. You can usually see a great number of pictures. You do usually give up daily room service, but each rental is different with what cleaning and service features they have.
