Awful experience

In the last year I made 3 booking at VRBO, in 2 occasions after the payement was process and booking confirmed the owner ask me for more money and cancel my booking because I refused and the other one, for no reason decided to cancel my booking. This behavior is unprofessional for a respected company and makes a fool of the client that use their services. The owner have no penalties for doing so , they abuse the client rights and jeopardize their vacation. A company with this behavior should not be allowed to operate with complete impunity from consumer affairs

We spent 5 days at this VRBO home. Although this is an older Victorian home, the kitchen has been totally redone, with new appliances and well stocked with pots, pans, and cutlery. The downstairs shower is also new. I loved that we could walk to downtown. The museum in Ouray is really interesting. Overall a good experience

Worst company ever!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I called 9 times and was hung up on by 7 different reps after being on hold for 2 hours and 55 minutes during one call and 2 hours and 17 minutes on another, meanwhile I was 3,000 miles away from home. Vrbo left me and my family stranded for an entire weekend without accommodations for my entire stay or a refund in a city across the country from my home. They had me pay premium same-day pricing at a hotel even though I booked my stay with them 4 months in advance. When I asked to be transferred to a manager, a manager names Marcuz got on the phone and yelled at me. He said, "don't play with this one ma'am," as if my family and I being stranded would be something I'd be joking about and just completely belittled me. I am appalled by their lack of empathy and total disregard for my and my family's lives and safety. This is by far the worst customer support experience I have ever had to deal with; never have I been hung up on by multiple representatives of a company; never have I been left without a reasonable resolution when I am 3,000+ miles away from home; never have I been left stranded across the country without a place to sleep; never have I been yelled at and threatened by a Customer Support Manager; never have I had such an abominable experience that I am forced to warn others of such possible atrocities. Stay away from Vrbo or you may very well have your vacation turned into a nightmare like mine was!!!

One star only because to give review a star has to be given Rented a month at sand dollar unit 310. Had to leave weeks early the unit was so bad. Fought with slidind doors owner let 40 watt bulbs in lamps no broom no mop place was a dump Run do not walk away

Stayed at legacy park in davenport florida rented for two months with home away 4 bedroom house attached pool. Lots of problems beat up furniture plumbing problems management thought we were demanding we had plumbing problem emailed on a Monday no reply again on tues been too busy sorry waited al day staff arrived 5pm did one toilet back tomorrow for 2nd one waited all day no show email home away replied family emergency we were too demanding 3rd day finally showed up said no emergency they just had no toilet seat replacement less than honest Home Away pool area holes in screens bedroom furniture old beat up overall maybe 2 stars is too fair closer to one star

VRBO - Caveat emptor - Buyer Beware

We reserved a room in Orlando with VRBO in November and booked using their website. Our reservation was cancelled in mid January - thing happened however, they refused to refund us our money! Further more, they refused to refund the money to my credit card company who has filed a complaint with the credit card company proper. Now the issue is that on VRBO's website, it states: *You must complete your booking or payment through the HomeAway checkout process in order to be protected by our Book with Confidence Guarantee. We can't protect payments that are completed outside of HomeAway. This is not accurate! We did complete our booking through "HomeAway" and they have not helped us to get a refund NOR to find other accommodations. 45 days now and no help from them at all. Fortunately, we were able to find other accommodations and our vacation plans were saved, if you are going to use VRBO - Caveat emptor; buyer beware.

VRBO can be a rip-off!

VRBO does not help you with disputes you have with the property owners. They also let owners charge cancellation fees that are in conflict with VRBO policy of 100% refund if you cancel 60 days before check in date. Our group cancelled 90 days in advance and the owner held back $250 cancellation fee and $157 VRBO fee!! VRBO said they don't get involved, we have to work it out with the owner. Will never again use VRBO or Home Away.

VRBO scams renters

VRBO has begun charging a service fee that can be as much as 12% of the rental cost. They claim that it ensures book with confidence and that they will assist with any problems guests encounter with renting a property on their site. This is an impossible promise to keep. Their customer service is now call centers in other countries. If you show up to a busy vacation area or city during prime time and all hotels and properties are booked what do you think they can do to accommodate you as a guest. If the areas are booked, VRBO can't magically place you somewhere. They will never refund the service fee regardless of circumstance. They now block all names, phone numbers and email addresses so there is no way to communicate with the home owners directly. Before spending thousands on a vacation I like to have a conversation with the property owners to make sure their property is suited for my vacation and considering owners pay to list on their site the 12% service fee is ridiculous. Literally wanted to book a 2 night stay, cost of the rental was 260 and they wanted to charge me $30 for using their site. I urge all people to book direct with the owner's, these companies have gotten greedy! I would be fine with even $10 but $30 that is crazy.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. Just try getting through to customer service. And, someone help you if you have a payment issue. They send you to their separate payment processor. If I could give them a negative star I would.
