Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice

5

Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice is one of my favorite side dish to pair with grilled fish. This rice is very easy to prepare. When preparing this rice all one have to do is add water to a pot, add seasoning packet and add the rice. Simmer on low heat and in no time you will have a tasty side dish. I always have two boxes of this rice on hand at any given time.

Uncle Ben's something healthy my kids will eat

I have always liked rice of all kinds. Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice tastes great. I love that this is healthy. It has whole grains, vitamins, minerals and is low in fat. This is very easy to prepare. Just follow the instructions and in about 25 minutes you have a great side dish for dinner. This rice cooks perfectly, not sticky or mushy. My kids are picky eaters and it is a challenge to get them to eat anything that is remotely good for them. They like Uncle Ben's. This is priced very reasonably and I often find coupons for Uncle Ben's products. I also love the new pouches of rice by Uncle Ben's. They come in a variety of flavors and only take 90 seconds in the microwave to make. It comes in long grain and wild rice also.

Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice is the best!

Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice is so good. It's easy to prepare, with very easy to follow instructions on the package, and in 25 minutes you have an amazing rice side dish! So delicious and nutritious!  And it always turns out good -- never sticky like some other less expensive brands of rice. Though it may cost a little more, it is well worth it for the end result! We always have a box of Uncle Ben's in the pantry!

Now here's a side dish, that my entire family will eat, which is so much easier for me, rather than trying to make different meals for all of my family members. Tastes great, easy to prepare, healthy, gluten free and low in fat, what else can you ask for?

Uncle Ben does it again!

There I was last night, all set to **eat something again**, with leftover roast chicken but no inclination to make either a sandwich or whip up mashed potatoes as a side dish.  God forbid that I should just eat a few pieces of plain roast chicken for supper!  A frantic search of my pantry cabinet revealed that I was out of all the [Uncle Ben's Ready Rice][1] easy-to-fix dishes but I found a package of ***Uncle Ben's Whole Grain & Wild Rice*** in the Mushroom Recipe flavor. Directions were given for both stove-top and microwave preparation.  The package information clearly stated "*For best results, use stove-top cooking method*."  Since I was determined to try it in the microwave anyway (and learn the hard way), I can personally vouch that they are right --the stove-top method is best.  Although I followed directions exactly, the rice had not absorbed enough of the liquid at the end of five minutes and I had to recover it with plastic and let it just sit (not cooking) for quite a while before the dish was the way it was supposed to be. **STATS:** There are 3-1/2 single servings when the contents of ***Uncle Ben's Whole Grain & Wild Rice*** are properly cooked, with each serving containing 210 calories with 10 calories from fat, 1 gram Total Fat, zero each Saturated Fat, Trans Fat, and Cholesterol, 570 mg. Sodium, 260 mg. Potassium, 43 grams Total Carbs, 2 grams Dietary Fiber, 1 gram Sugars and 6 grams Protein.  In addition, each serving contains 2% (D.V.) each Vitamin C and Calcium, 6% Iron, and 15% each Thiamin, Niacin, and Folate. **TASTE TIP:** ***Uncle Ben's Whole Grain & Wild Rice*** made a perfect side dish combined with slices of heated roast chicken, [Green Giant Steamer][2] Green Peas and a garnish of that great whole cranberry sauce which [Peapod][3]  has had on sale lately.  Too bad I didn't think of opening a bottle of white wine -- a glass of that would have gone beautifully with this meal. **MY VIEWPOINT:** I'm crazy about rice anyway and have been a long-time fan of Uncle Ben's so it comes as no surprise that I enjoyed ***Uncle Ben's Whole Grain & Wild Rice*** very much.  Though the sodium is a tad high, I am inclined to forgive that in a dish which is part of a substantial dinner and there are always other places to cut back on sodium during the rest of the day in order to make way for a great dish like this.      [1]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Uncle-Bens-Whole-Grain-Brown-Ready-Rice-review-e0493 [2]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Green-Giant-Valley-Fresh-Steamers-review-3b08 [3]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Peapod-com-review-a5402
