I have tried all three strengths of the Afirm line, 1x, 2x, and 3x, and unfortunately I could not tolerate any of them. Even when I started out using a very tiny amount and only applied the cream every second or third night, within weeks of starting the cream I had red, peeling, angry skin. I persevered for a few weeks in hopes of getting used to it, but I was not able to build up a tolerance. I did not notice any lessening of my sun damage or wrinkles during those weeks either. To be fair, I have yet to find a retinol product that I can tolerate, and this one did not irritate my skin any worse than the other various brands. As a final word, I didn't care for the smell of the cream (although it was not a strong smell).
