Great for a Military Family!

5

My husband spent ten years in the military and when he was deployed to Iraq in 2006/2007 for 15 months I was pregnant so I moved back home from the base we were stationed to live with my parents. There was no military hospital anywhere near where I lived so I had to use the public health care system and I had no idea how Tricare would work there since I had been using a base hospital for so long. I called Tricare and they told me that since I was so far from any Military hospital that nearly everything would be covered with my pregnancy and for the baby, I was so relieved! All of the doctors that I ever dealt with were great and took my insurance no problem and never had any problem billing them. All of my check ups I never had to pay anything at all, and when I finally went to have her, they told me that the total cost not covered by my insurance would be $13! I paid it right then and we had our baby, and we never got any bill from the hospital or anything. It was great to have that peace of mind and to know that our insurance was really there for us if we needed them, this was by far the best insurance that I ever had.

Reasonable, Helpful, and Met My Medical Needs

5

Before I turned 22, I had been on Tricare (My military parents' insurance company) and I cannot speak negatively about it! I enjoyed a handful of benefits to include low copays on medications (an average of $24 a month when I know I would have otherwise spent over $100), an easy and quick process to set up an appointment via phone, and being situated with doctors who were attentive to my needs and respectful of my privacy, even when I was a minor. My only issue was when I needed to be referred to a psychiatrist. The referral process was frustratingly lengthy and I was not matched up with a proper specialist for more than five months. However, when I was situated with a good psychiatrist, my needs were met, my costs remained low, and I was able to get my problems addressed without my being too overburdened. Fortunately, Tricare is accepted at a good number of pharmacies that are not on a military base, Walgreens and CVS serving as two stores that do accommodate this type of insurance.

Great health insurance, low copay

5

The best thing about Tricare insurance is the low copay on prescriptions. I have 3 prescriptions that I take on a daily basis so I have to have them refilled monthly. With my Tricare insurance I only pay $5 per prescription. If I get sick or need any other medicine my prescriptions usually cost $5 as well but I've had some that cost less than $3. I never have to worry about switching doctors because my Tricare policy covers any doctor that I choose to visit and I can even see specialists if I need to. Customer Service I've had a few issues with my insurance because I somehow got put on two different insurance policies and when one ran out Tricare still thought that my other insurance was my primary insurance. It was easy to sort things out though and since then I haven't had any problems. Available Plans Tricare offers great plans and you can customize your plan to suit your needs. My plan allows me to see any doctor I want and I have no problems when switching doctors.

Great Insurance

5

I've had Tricare for the past 6 years ( and still going). I really have had no problems with them. I've never had issues if I needed to see a specialist. They always have a wide variety of doctors, specialist and well as prescriptions needed. If I need to pick up a prescription when i'm out of town I can, and the copay is reasonable. I've only had to pay out of pocket one time when I was out of town, and had to pick up a prescription from CVS. I love the variety of pediatric doctors and locations. If I have a doctor that i'm not fond of they give me no problems when switching doctors. If you have children then you know how your child needs to feel comfortable with their doctor as well as you do. So the easy transition to a new one is nice to have. The customer service representatives are always helpful and polite. I would really recommend them to anyone.
