Thank Goodness

I have a 17 year old, very very picky cat. She heavy most of her life, and was on a high priced vet suggested "designer" cat food. Over the last six months, she refused to eat that anymore, totally stopped eating any dry food, and was losing weight like crazy. I tried everything. I was shopping in Trader Joe's one day and noticed the Trader Joe's Tuna for cats. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it. SUCCESS!! My Penny actually liked this cat food and was happy to eat it on a daily basis. She began to eat again, and hasn't lost any more weight. The food is much more like people tuna than the typical can of cat food. A side benefit for me, is that this cat food is very reasonably priced, and is actually costs less (it's 49 cents a can) than the typical cat food that you can buy in the grocery stores. I happen to work about two blocks away from a Trader Joe's, so this has become the only food for my cat. Thanks to Trader Joe's!!

One of the best cat canned food

Our cats love it. Fresh raw fish and the Trader Joe's Tuna are their favorites. They don't want to eat any other canned food. We have 2 cats, approx. 2 years old. We give them everyday dry food and half can tuna. I have tried many other canned foods, but this is clearly their favorite.

Perfect tuna.

Excellent product. What I love about it is that it has none of the sodium that regular canned tuna has, uses all parts of the fish (liver, guts, etc), plus added extra vitamins. Some have expressed concerns about the bones found in the can, but after picking one up and having it break into many tiny peices, I realized they are extremely soft and can be crushed in a cats mouth and digested without a problem. My cat absolutely loves it. Quality of Ingredients Contains all parts of the fish for best nutrition. Flavor Selection My cat prefers it to any other.

Trader Joe's Tuna for Cats is good

My cats like Trader Joe's Tuna for cats.  I don't think it's their favorite, but they do like it better than the dry food I give them.  My favorite thing about Trader Joe's Tuna for cats is the price, as I only paid 49 cents for each can.  I was relieved to find a good canned cat food at an affordable price.  I like it not only because it's cheap, but it also seems like a healthier alternative to much of the canned cat food available at most grocery stores.  I checked the ingredient list and I did not see any by-products listed.  I don't feed Trader Joe's canned Tuna to my cats all the time because they get tired of it after a while.  I usually feed them dry food during the week, and various kinds of wet canned foods on the weekend, including Trader Joe's Tuna for cats.  I don't particularly like the smell of this food, so I try to only feed my cats as much as they will eat in one sitting.

Trader Joe's tuna cat food -- wonderful

Our cat goes absolutely crazy for canned tuna (which we give her as a special treat for grooming, nail trimming, ear washing, etc).  When she got a terrible upper respiratory infection and wouldn't eat anything (even the super-yummy super-high-calorie prescription cat food from the vet) she would still eat a few pieces of canned tuna.  I remembered that my old roommate would give her cat Trader Joe's tuna for cats as a treat, so I picked some up.  I'm convinced that this helped her get her strength up and fight off her infection.  It seemed to be especially yummy if I mixed in just a little hot water to make it warmer and smellier.  It's also great for mixing with her medicines -- if I give her just a little with her meds mixed in first thing in the morning she'll wolf it down.  I actually find the lack of EZ-open can convenient -- I use one of the type of can openers that leaves a smooth edge and makes it possible to seal up the can again with the removed end, so I can cover it back up and pop it back in the refrigerator for a day or two.  I suppose we're just lucky that our cat isn't generally picky, and is particularly wild for tuna.  I think this will stay in her diet as a daily treat and a way to adminster medicines.

I love Trader Joe's, but my cats just don't care for the tuna. I give it 4 stars, though, because I think it's just that they're fussy. I like that the tuna has no byproducts in it. (TJ's other cat foods rate high with my cats, too!)
