NOT impressed with Trader Joe's Mushroom Ravioli AT ALL!
I love almost all of the Trader Joe's products that I've tried and especially their Mushroom and Black Truffle Flatbread, so I was super-excited to find bags of *Trader Joe's Mushroom Ravioli* in the store during my visit this afternoon. The actual name on the bag is *Trader Giotto's Mushroom Ravioli with Mushroom Truffle Sauce* and it sounded like heaven to me. I love both mushrooms and truffle flavor so I eagerly added two 16 ounce bags of these ravioli to the cart. A bag contains about 3 one-cup serving sizes, each of which contains 190 calories, 7 grams of fat, 23 grams of carbs, and 8 grams of protein. There are two different cooking options: microwaving the frozen contents of the bag in a covered microwave-safe dish for about 6-8 minutes while stirring every couple of minutes or adding 2 tablespoons of water and the frozen contents of the bag to a skillet, covering, cooking over high heat, and stirring/turning gently for 6-8 minutes. I'm not a fan of microwaving food, so I decided to try the stovetop cooking method for these *Trader Joe's Mushroom Ravioli*. Unfortunately, it took closer to 15 to get the ravioli and sauce cooked and warm enough for me to eat. When I went to pour some of them into the bowl, it was like pouring brown mushroom-truffle soup with a few ravioli floating around in it. Not exactly what I was expecting. As far as flavor goes, these ravioli leave a lot to be desired. Maybe the filling needs some more cheese or one with a sharper flavor, but it was like eating pasta and cooked mushrooms in a mushroom gravy with a hint of truffle flavor. After eating about 3 of these ravioli, the flavor went from mediocre to downright unpleasant for me and I dumped the contents of my bowl and the rest still on the stove into the garbage. Trader Joe's missed the mark with these ravioli. Not recommended!
