I'm always looking for something new in the way of sodas and flavored waters and had already tried and liked Topo Chico water. I recently found several flavors of Topo Chico brand soft drinks on the Hispanic foods aisle and tried almost all of them. My favorite by far is the Topo Sangria, a non-alcoholic carbonated soft drink. It does a pretty good job of duplicating the flavor of sangria and is an excellent treat in a glass over crushed ice. It's nice to be able to enjoy a sangria in the middle of a hot summer day and not need to take a nap afterwards. Since Topo Sangria is made and bottled in Mexico, it has good old cane sugar in it, providing a lighter tasting, non-syrupy drinking experience seldom found on American store shelves these days. I'm usually very much against non-diet soft drinks because I don't want the calories but in the case of Topo Sangria I'm willing to bend the rules and cheat a little bit. You can't be good all the time, right? If you're tired of the same old 12 packs of canned soda and you're ready to try something new, look for Topo Sangria at your grocers and give it a try. If you like wine coolers you'll probably love it. Forget about the fact that it contains 43 grams of sugar and 170 calories per bottle and focus on the low sodium content and Topo Chico's old-school painted bottles. Not a drink you can overindulge in but one or two a day, in place of a snack maybe, isn't going to do much harm. This is soda made the way it used to be. Makes you wonder why we put up with the other stuff.
